Assistant Professor Teri Finneman and journalism students are providing news coverage to Eudora through a community website. Editor and Publisher wrote a story about the project recently.

Research, Publications and Presentations
A three-year $1.4 million project funded by the National Science Foundation led by Associate Professor Hyunjin Seo will help women leaving prison gain technology skills to get jobs or continue their education. Read the KU News story.

Professor Tien Lee ’s study, co-authored with Kuang-Kuo Chang of Shih Hsin University in Taiwan, titled The Frame of the House: How Elite News Sources Framed Taiwan’s Housing Policy,” has been accepted for publication in Newspaper Research Journal.

Doctoral student Shola Aromona s paper, ​Political personalization and gender: 2015 Nigerian presidential candidates on Twitter was accepted for presentation at the AEJMC conference in August in Toronto. Also, her paper,  No, stop, I mean, continue: Normalization of ambiguous communication [token resistance], perpetuation of rape culture, and feminist online activism ,”  ​was accepted for presentation at the NCA conference in November in Baltimore.
Student News and Opportunities
Braden Shaw has been named a winner of the prestigious Jim Murray Memorial Foundation scholarship, a $5,000 national award for excellence in sports writing at the college level.

Tianna Witmer has been selected as a Reporting Fellow for the Excellence in Journalism News Team at the San Antonio EIJ Conference this September.​ 

The Antelope Valley Press in Palmdale, California, is featuring stories written by J-School students who covered the Colorado Rockies during spring training in Arizona. Read the stories here.

B.J. Rains , 2008 J-School graduate, has been named Idaho Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sports Media Association . He also received the award in 2018. Read the story.
