THE NEWSLETTER OF THE MINDFULNESS IN LAW SOCIETY - AUGUST 2019
THREE THINGS TO KNOW FOR AUGUST
Mindfulness in Legal Education

MILS and the Southeast Association of Law Schools (SEALS) have agreed to collaborate on a permanent presence for mindfulness within the organization and its annual conference.

SEALS is one of two major professional associations for the legal academy, along with the Association of American Law Schools (AALS). MILS is now connected to both organizations.

Professor Katya Lewinbuk of the South Texas School of Law will chair the new SEALS Mindfulness Resource Group and serve as the MILS liaison with SEALS. The chair of the MILS Academic Division, Professor Clifford Rosky of the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, serves as the MILS liaison to the AALS Balance Section Mindfulness Affinity Group.

Mindful Mondays Survey

The MILS Board of Directors is considering a proposal to change the programming for Mindful Mondays.

We currently offer an introductory half-hour guided mindfulness session on Mondays at 4 pm in each time zone (four times each Monday). The proposal would change this to offering it just once on Mondays, at 3 pm Eastern, 2 pm Central, 1 pm Mountain, and 12 noon Pacific.

We welcome your feedback on this proposal, and invite you to participate in this one-question SurveyMonkey survey .

Need CLE?

MILS offers on-demand CLE on mindfulness, yoga, and related topics.

MILS members get a discount on the regular $50/video rate, and new MILS members get one hour free for joining. All programs have been approved for CLE ethics and substance abuse credit in Illinois and states that have CLE reciprocity with Illinois. Lawyers in other states will have to petition for credit and MILS can help with that.

We are also seeking content for our CLE catalog. Those interested should contact Lee Holcomb .
