Current Sermon Series: "The Radical Sayings of Jesus"
8:15 am, 9:30 am & 11:00 am
Matthew 23:1-12
Jesus Denounces Scribes and Pharisees
Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples,  “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat;  therefore, do whatever they teach you and follow it; but do not do as they do, for they do not practice what they teach.  They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on the shoulders of others; but they themselves are unwilling to lift a finger to move them.  They do all their deeds to be seen by others; for they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long.  They love to have the place of honor at banquets and the best seats in the synagogues,  and to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces, and to have people call them rabbi.  But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all students.  And call no one your father on earth, for you have one Father—the one in heaven.  10  Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Messiah.  11  The greatest among you will be your servant.  12  All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted.

Mark 9:33-37
Who Is the Greatest?
33  Then they came to Capernaum; and when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the way?”  34  But they were silent, for on the way they had argued with one another who was the greatest.  35  He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.”  36  Then he took a little child and put it among them; and taking it in his arms, he said to them,  37  “Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me.”

We each read at a time and place of our own choosing. Answers to reader questions and other supplements occasionally come out on Saturdays. To receive daily study tips by email, write or call Regina Hunter at drhunter@nmia.com or 294-2877.

MARCH SPECIAL OFFERING: Operation Hogar
Many families in Juarez, Mexico are in need of shelter. You can help meet this need by contributing to the cost of a house, roughly $3000. Or you could even join a team that goes to Mexico for five days and actually helps build the house along side Methodists from Mexico and the family that will live in the house.

Vance Behr has done both and will be happy to give you more information. Call him at 505-300-6320. Please help with this important mission.

Can you provide a meal for the students before Bible Study on a Tuesday night
sometime before May 2019? To sign up go to: http://bit.ly/unmwesley.

Psalm 86 (8:15 am)
Hear my voice, O Lord, when I pray, Hear my prayer when I cry from the lowly place; In your mercy, Lord, let me stay; Hear my voice, O Lord, when I pray. Hear my voice, O Lord, when I cry; Hear my words when I call from the lowly place, I will pray, O Lord, lest I die; Hear my voice, O Lord, when I cry. From the grave’s descent you have taken me, When the men of the world have forsaken me. In my day of need and my time of grief, Hear the prayer for my body and soul’s relief. In the morning, Lord, I will sing with a song that will rise from the holy place, And my praises, Lord, it will bring; in the morning, Lord, I will sing. Amen.
What Wondrous Love is This (11:00 am)
What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this,
That caused the Lord of bliss,
To bear the dreadful curse,
For my soul, for my soul,
To bear the dreadful curse for my soul.

To God and to the Lamb, I will sing, I will sing!
To God and to the Lamb, I will sing, I will sing!
To God and to the Lamb, Who is the great "I AM, "
While millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing!
While millions join the theme, I will sing.

And when from death I'm free, I'll sing on, I'll sing on!
And when from death I'm free, I'll sing on,
And when from death I'm free, I'll sing and joyful be,
And thro' eternity, I'll sing on, I'll sing on,
And thro' eternity, I'll sing on.
