Words of Encouragement
from Fr. Tom Albinson
August 14, 2020
Two years ago, August was a life-changing month for me, all because of the word ‘Yes.’ On the 15th August I was given my Spouse Visa to enter the USA. The USA government said ‘Yes’ to me. A few days later, on Sunday 19th August, Fr. Andrew offered me the position at The Church of St. Michael & St. George, to which I said ‘Yes.’

Saying Yes can be hard, especially when we don’t truly know what we are saying Yes to. It is much easier to say No; that being said there are times when it is important to say No. But what about answering the call of God?

Saying Yes to God is an act of Faith; we don’t know where the Holy Spirit is going to lead us or call us. We see this most clearly in the examples of the Apostles and the Saints; they all said Yes to Jesus without thinking of the consequences. Each one of them said Yes to live a different life that gave life to others.

This is also the life that we have all said Yes to. The vision statement of The Church of St. Michael & St. George states that lives are transformed by our relationship with Christ. We acknowledge that we are transformed and by our worship, our prayer, our study, and our service we seek to witness to that transformation.

I am truly thankful, in the depths of this pandemic, that you continue to say Yes to Christ and that you faithfully participate in our part in God’s Mission.

God bless-
Tom
