A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:
Rebecca Wakefield, CMP
Manager, Events & Meetings, KPMG
2019-2020 MPI New Jersey President

AS SUMMER COMES TO A CLOSE,  I hope you had some time to disconnect from your job and reconnect with family and friends!  Meanwhile, your  Board and our committee members have been busy behind the scenes preparing for this new year and assembling first class education for you, our valued members.

For me this is the best time of the year, where all the planning the Board has put into the last 18 months comes to life.  We are ready to excite and educate our members and I can not wait for you to experience it along with us.   I am honored to have the opportunity to lead the chapter this year and work along a dedicated Board whose priority is ensuring that our members have the first rate education and networking experiences. We will continue to have our education programs pre-approved for CEU  as a CMP preferred provider.

Our next Education Meeting on September 27th at the Heldrich Hotel in New Brunswick will have a panel of esteemed planners and suppliers to discuss the  Hot Topics in our industry from their point of view. If you would like to participate on our panel, please reach out to Sally Slater, C.A.S.E., the Director of Education. This event plans to be quite interactive and will answer all those questions you have always had about the other side of the industry.

Then in October we will have you facing your fears as we gather at i Fly in Paramus on Wednesday, October 16th.  Space for flyers is limited so please make sure to register early.

Please keep providing us with your feedback to ensure that you get the most out of your membership and don't forget to follow us on Facebook &  Linkedin, for chapter news.

I encourage you to get involved by joining one of our committees....let us help you get  involved and master your membership!

CHAPTER EVENT RECAP:
What Did You Miss Last Month?

JULY EDUCATION PROGRAM:
On July 30th, MPI New Jersey gathered at the Crowne Plaza Princeton to learn about the importance of Human Trafficking in the Hospitality Industry.   Kathleen Friess, the NJ Attorney General Human Trafficking Program Coordinator joined us to education our attendees on what our industry can do to help combat human trafficking by helping us know what to look for and what steps to take if we suspect we have come in contact with a victim.

Want to learn more or develop a training program for your staff.  Visit the NJ Attorney General Website for more information.

We kicked off the term with a new community outreach initiative where we partnered with Spread the Word thru Zappos for Good and collected 50+ gently used children's books for donation.

Thank you to our Venue Host: Crowne Plaza Princeton
