Mission of Yahweh School Clothing Drive for the Children

a great start for the new school year. They are very grateful and
can not thank you enough for giving these mothers the dignity
to shop
back to school with their children,
who will get to wear new clothes that fit to start the year.

Daughters of the King
On August 10, the Daughters of the King elected the following women to serve during the upcoming year:
- Glorianna Foster- President
- Carol Goulet- Vice President
- Olive Gomes- Secretary/ Treasurer
Karin Hansen will continue in her role as Directress of the Junior Daughters of the King, assisted by Julie Collins. In lieu of our September meeting, several members will be attending the Daughters of the King Fall Assembly at Camp Allen September 13-14. Anyone interested in attending may contact any of the officers above for more information. Our next regular monthly meeting will be Saturday, October 12 from 10:00- 11:30. We would love to have as many women there as possible. Please bring a friend and join us- everyone is welcome!
Junior Daughters of the King

Mark your calendars! West Houston Assistance Ministries is celebrating Faith, Hope, and Love at their Annual Luncheon! Please join them and Keynote Speaker, Athlete of the Century, Carl Lewis to hear his inspirational story of perseverance and persistence on the road to success and how he is using it to make a difference in the world around him. You will also hear heartwarming stories of hope from people who have found life-changing help from WHAM.

Bishop Doyle's visit
We are asking for anyone who is interested in Confirmation, Reception, and/or Reaffirmation, to please speak with Father Mark. There will be four Sunday evening classes, held at 6pm on Aug 18, Aug 25, Sept 8, and Sept 22. These classes will focus on learning; attendance does not automatically mean you are being confirmed. If you are not certain what it means to be confirmed, or an Episcopalian, or reaffirmed, please attend the classes to learn. Your decision of whether or not to go before the bishop will be respected.

Seafarer's Kick-Off Coordinator
Are you passionate about outreach? For many years, Ascension has partnered with the school and ran a very successful Seafarer's ministry. This year we are looking for a coordinator. The coordinator will champion the cause and drive interest. This means timely bulletin announcements, an example table in the narthex, and coordinating with the school for sorting and wrapping. We would like to kick off this event Sept 15, with the ingathering on or near October 20. Please email the office and let Samantha know you are willing to take this on. It really is a great ministry.

Return of Sunday School!
Sunday School for all ages begins First Sunday after Labor day, September 8. Children and Adults will meet following post service coffee, after the 10am service. Please plan to attend!!

Rector's Bible Study
Fr. Mark will be hosting a rector's Bible Study in the church Library, Mondays 7pm beginning October 7. Mark your calendar and let Fr. Mark know you are interested. Childcare will be provided.

Choir Returns to Regular Rehearsals
The Ascension choir will return to regular Wednesday evening
rehearsals
on August 14th. Come and join the choir and make a joyful noise!

Fill the Box
Don't forget to your non perishable donations for WHAM. Let's fill the box! Canned soup and veggies, PB&J, and rice and beans are always needed staples.

WHAM Volunteering
On the third Saturday of each month, we send a team to WHAM to repackage food items for their Food Pantry. Our next Saturday is August 17, be sure to come out and help. AND always remember to drop off dried goods for our WHAM box.
