Holiday Party
More than 100 people enjoyed good company, conversation, and food and drink at this year's Holiday Party at Bonfyre American Grille, organized by the Membership Networking Committee. Even more importantly, nearly 200 holiday gifts were collected, which will be donated to kids in need in our community. Thank you to the committee, our sponsors, and all who attended and donated gifts. We so appreciate our fun, committed, and generous members!
Sauk Columbia Chapter Bagels & Banter With Robert Procter
Members of the Sauk Columbia Chapter received updates on the current advocacy work of RASCW and the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC), including area affordable housing efforts, at their recent event, Bagels & Banter With Robert Procter (RASCW's Government Affairs Director). Thanks to Robert Procter for the great presentation, as well as the Chapter Committee, our sponsors, and all who attended for making this the perfect way to close out the year!
A Note From Ruth Hackney, RASCW CEO
This holiday season, I would like to convey a message of gratitude to our membership. Thank you for your continued trust, patience, kindness, and your commitment to our industry and our organization. With your creativity and perseverance, we have been able to serve our communities in a time like no other. The success we’ve found together is built on the core of cooperation.

Cooperation, while defined as, “the process of working together for the same end,” is the backbone of this industry. Not only do you as agents cooperate with each other, but we as an association must cooperate with you, our member, to ensure that we are meeting your needs. That is why in 2022, I’m challenging you to a year of engagement with RASCW.

While we have improved many of our communications with you over the past two years, it’s time to hear from you. We are committed to listening and it is critical for you to engage in those efforts. What works for you, what doesn’t? How can we positively impact your career? What can we do to help with self-care? Our hope is to identify pain points in the industry or in the transaction that we can help create solutions for. Together we can do so much more than individually!

Another passion project of the association in 2021 has been the creation of a Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion, and the creation of a committee to help reach our goals of embracing diversity among association membership and leadership, and expanding the knowledge and sensitivity of REALTORS® to diversity, equity, and inclusion issues. If this is something you’re passionate about, please reach out to me to learn more about how to get engaged.

If you want a reminder as to why these issues are important, I highly recommend the fair housing simulator tool created by the National Association of REALTORS®, Fairhaven. Fairhaven.realtor simulates transactions in a variety of scenarios and educates you on the best way to handle them. Treating fellow agents and clients equally is a vital part of cooperation.

Thank you again for your membership and continued support. Have a happy holiday season, and we look forward to an amazing 2022.

Sincerely,
Ruth A Hackney

RASCW Minority Scholarship
For over 20 years, RASCW, through the Affordable Housing & Equal Opportunities Committee, has supported diversity in the real estate industry with the Minority Scholarship. We believe that with more minorities involved in providing real estate services, there will be an increase in the acquisition of real estate by minority buyers, which will help build stronger and more diverse communities. This program was developed to help achieve this by providing financial assistance and support to minorities who are interested in pursuing a career in real estate – recipients receive nearly $1,500 in waived start up fees and dues.

Click here for more information about the scholarship, including application instructions and testimonials from some past recipients about how the scholarship impacted their path to a career in real estate. Please encourage any individuals you feel would benefit from this scholarship to apply, and feel free to contact us with any questions.
