PARKS & RECREATION ROUNDUP
FEBRUARY 11, 2020
Welcome to the Parks & Recreation Roundup, a bi-monthly publication aimed at
keeping the community informed on our programs, events, and partnerships
DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHTS
Share Your Passion With Us
Parks & Recreation is looking to fill several positions on various volunteer boards and commissions. If you are passionate about recreation in our community, positions are available for both the Parks & Recreation Commission, and the Ice Rink Advisory Committee (IRAC). Both require 2 year terms, which will expire in March of 2022. Visit the website to learn more about each position and to submit an application today!
Dreaming of Plants & Flowers
The Yampa River Botanic Park is receiving a donation of 800 tiny plants from plant propagation company Proven Winners! The Botanic Park is partnering with SOROCO High School’s horticulture program to grow them in their heated greenhouse. This spring the horticulture students will sell half of the plants in their plant sale fundraiser and the Botanic Park will plant the other half in the Annuals Garden.
New Year, New Pet Licenses
All pets located in Steamboat Springs and within Routt County are required by law to be licensed annually. It's required that all dogs and cats wear the current license on their collar or harness. The annual deadline has passed, and the City reminds owners who have not secured 2020 licenses to do so immediately. Licenses can be bought at the Routt County Humane Society, or at any local veterinarian office.
Kid's Night Out is Back!
Kid's Night Out is back on March 6 from 6 PM to 9 PM. This event is a fun, supervised way for your child to enjoy an evening with their friends, while giving parents a night off. Participants will be treated to a pizza dinner, games and movie, at Soda Creek Elementary School. Drop off will take place from 6 PM to 6:30 PM, with pick up from 8:45 PM to 9 PM. This event fills up fast, so make sure to register in advance online!
