2019 Nurse Scholar Program
Registration Open

The AgriSafe 2019 Nurse Scholar program start date (September 3, 2019) is quickly approaching and registration is available! The Nurse Scholar program is a distance learning opportunity available to rural nurses. Distance education (a total of 18 hours), provided by experienced health & safety educators will enable rural nurses to increase their knowledge base in prevention, identification and assessment of diseases related to agricultural work exposures. Classes are in the form of webinars that can be viewed live or OnDemand (your own time). Registration is now open!

Invest in Your Health On-Site Training
|
|
AgriSafe is looking for organizations to co-host Invest In Your Health Trainer Exchanges. Educators can be certified to train on five AgriSafe modules (targeted for ages 16-23). AgriSafe provides the course instruction and training materials. Under our open share platform, once certified, you would be free to use the training materials in your classroom setting. Our end goal is to build the capacity of local agricultural educators, rural health professionals and rural leaders to train young workers. Trainer exchanges can be scheduled at a time and location that best fits your group's needs. Consider hosting a trainer exchange in your community.

AgriSafe staff and members enjoyed networking and learning at the 2019 ISASH Annual Conference. AgriSafe hosted its Member Social on Wednesday June 26th in conjunction with the 2019 ISASH Annual Conference in Des Moines, Iowa.

Join APA and Farm Aid for a special webinar on the mental health crisis among farmers and how psychologists can make a difference. This webinar is geared toward psychologists who are interested in working with this population. Panel experts will help you understand the realities that farmers face, their unique stressors, and the use of effective language to help farmers overcome some of the barriers to seeking mental health care. The National Children’s Center is currently developing an online training for supervisors. The training is for people who hire, teach or supervise workers under 21. Participants will receive $50 for completing a survey and the online training and another $50 when they complete a follow-up survey 3 months later. The training is available in both English and Spanish.
