Illness Prevention
This flu season has been particularly rough. As a reminder, the flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the influenza virus. It can be spread from person-to-person through the air by coughing or sneezing or by touching an infected surface and carrying it to your nose or mouth. Check out the graphic for symptoms. We've also been hit by a stomach virus making its rounds throughout the district.

Those experiencing flu-like or other symptoms should stay home from school and work until at least 24 hours after they no longer have fever without the use of medicine. We recommend consulting with a doctor and making sure those not feeling well get plenty of rest and fluids.

Please help us encourage hand washing and other preventative actions. Washing coats, backpacks and lunch boxes is also suggested.

To learn more about the flu virus and prevention methods, visit https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/index.html.

Here's a link to those expectations: https://www.republicschools.org/Page/1207.  We ask that you pay close attention to items 21-23 as they may relate to items that students m ay receive at school for this holiday. Should you have questions, please contact the Transportation Facility at 732-3680. Thank you in advance for your help!

Cadet Jonathan Willis, Junior, was selected as an Alternate. The scholarship is valued at approximately $20,000.
These two cadets are two of 200 Air Force Junior ROTC cadets around the world to receive th e scholarship from Headquarters Air Force Junior ROTC, Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama. More than 3,000 cadets applied for one of the 200 scholarships. There are more than 120,000 high school students enrolled in Air Force Junior ROTC at almost 900 high schools in the U.S and overseas.
Applicants had to be Air Force Junior ROTC cadets, at least 16 years of age, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.
Applicants had to complete an online aviation qualification (AQT) test comprised of 5 sub-tests, which includes the following: 1) math, 2) table reading, 3) aviation information, 4) instrument comprehension, and 5) weight perception.
