Got extra flowering bulbs
or perennials? We’ll take them!
.....If your garden maintenance includes dividing bulbs or other perennials, please consider donating the “extras" to The Cedars.
.....Fall is the best time to plant! We are establishing beds using donated plants and bulbs from the Fondren neighborhood. Please consider giving narcissus (daffodils), iris, crocus, day lilies (and other spring/fall bloomers), hosts, aspidistra, ornamental grasses, etc. to us and they will find a new home in our garden.
.....Please leave them on The Cedars' back porch Tuesday - Thursday (through October).
.....If you have questions, contact Chuck Addington, Chair of FRF's Beautification Committee.
Paid interns for Fondren businesses
.....The Refill Jackson Initiative is looking for local businesses that can serve as internship sites for graduates of our workforce training program. Young adults between the ages of 18 to 24 learn basic necessary job skills and train on-the-job with Refill over eight weeks.
.....After completing the training, many choose to participate in our paid internship program. Internships are a win-win for local businesses and Refill grads--local businesses put in the time to train the next generation of workers; grads get work experience in the real world; and Refill provides the graduate's wages and payroll taxes.
.....Businesses must be able to provide experience for 480 hours over no more than six months. For further information on how to become a Refill internship or employment partner, please contact Amber Parker, Career Coordinator, at amber@refilljackson.org.
