Student Spotlight - Reza Amini
|
|
Hello Raiders,
My name is Reza Amini. I’m studying Master of Business Administration at Raj Soin College of Business. My Bachelor’s degree was in Computer Engineering, and I decided to switch to MBA because I like to combine Data with Business.
I’m from Tehran, the capital of Iran. Tehran is a crowded city and 15 million people live there. All of my Persian friends in US say that Tehran and New York are very similar. We have four seasons in Tehran, so winter here is a bit early for me. For me, Dayton is a great place that helps you to take a distance from all the tensions and distraction you may have in a major city and this will give you a hand to have a better education.
I heard a lot about Wright State University and the people of Dayton from my sister because she graduated from here back in 2017. When I came here, it was just like what I imagined.
The thing that surprised me the most is that how easy is to reach professors and the university’s faculty. They are helpful in every aspect of my education, and this is a great motivation for me. I’m working at the department of foundation here at Wright State and I wish you the best for your upcoming final exams.

Updated Pre-departure Testing Requirements for Air Travelers to the U.S.
Starting on December 6, air travelers aged two and older, regardless of nationality or vaccination status, are required to show documentation of a negative viral test result taken within one day of the flight’s departure to the United States before boarding. You must show your negative result to the airline before you board your flight. That includes all travelers – U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and foreign nationals.
Updated Requirements for Air Travelers to the U.S. due to COVID-19 and the Omicron Variant
On November 26, and at the advice of the President’s Chief Medical Advisor and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Administration announced it will restrict travel from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe starting on November 29 due to concerns over the new Omicron variant.
CDC Order
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Order, which took effect November 8, 2021, requiring all non-immigrant, non-citizen air travelers to the United States to be fully vaccinated and to provide proof of vaccination status prior to boarding an airplane to the United States remains in effect.

Spring/Summer 2022 Health Insurance

Spring/Summer 2022 Health
Insurance Premium
As you may have noticed, your health insurance premium billed on your student account is $1227. This coverage is from January 10, 2022 to August 14/2022, combining both Spring and Summer semester.
Your health insurance premium this year is 25% lower than previous years. To keep this premium low, WSU opted for an annual plan that is payable in two installments.
Therefore, the only way to request an insurance waiver, is by proving that you are insured through a U.S. based insurance through an employer, the employer of a spouse, parents, governmental sponsor such as SACM, or you are graduating on Spring 2022.
Insurance waiver requests may be submitted electronically through THIS LINK no later than Friday, January 21, 2022.

Working off campus in any other capacity is illegal and if caught could lead to SEVIS Termination and possibly deportation.

Maintaining status on OPT is still the same as usual
You are permitted only 90 days of unemployment between the start and end dates on your EAD card. In addition, you are required to report the following information through the SEVP Portal while on OPT within 10 days from the change:
1. When you start a new job.
2. When you change addresses.
3. Periods of unemployment.
4. 6-month validation (You can email fei.yu@wright.edu after you update your employment information and residential address through SEVP Portal)
Can I travel back to my home country during OPT period?
Please be aware that if you are unemployed for more than 90 days, you will lose your OPT status. Also, during this uncertain time, we do not suggest international travel as there is no guarantee of open borders.
