YMCA (The 'Y'):  After-school child care (1st - 8th)
St. Rose Band: Concert & Beginning Band (4th - 8th)
Student EMERGENCY Kit:  DUE FRIDAY THIS WEEK (K-8th)
After-school Spanish:  (6th - 8th)
Basketball Registration:  (5th - 8th)

WEDNESDAY ENVELOPES: Will be sent home on the first day of school with some important information inside. The Wednesday Envelope is sent home every Wednesday with your oldest child. Most weeks, it has nothing in it. It is your vessel to return forms, notes, etc. back to school. Your Family Envelope is to be returned, by your child, to their teacher by FRIDAY of every week - even if it is empty.

FAMILY NAME PLACARDS - EVERY Family will receive 2 last name placards to be used for afternoon dismissal. We are asking that ALL families who pick up 1st - 8th graders after-school, to please display their name placard in the right front corner of your windshield, every day. We have found that dismissal goes much smoother if our staff can quickly identify an approaching vehicle and call for the student. The placard should easily fit in your glove box or side console.
1st Day School Supplies Orders - Those students who ordered a 1st Day School Supply Kit back in June, will receive their supplies in the classroom on the first day of school. Parents and/or students are not to come into the classrooms to retrieve the packages.
Teachers will determine the appropriate time to unpack all supplies. We appreciate your cooperation.
St. Rose Parent / Student Handbook  has been updated as of 8/1/18
There are some changes and updates and we have highlighted the areas of revision and those that require all parent's attention.  Please review the entire document.
The handbook will always be available to review by clicking on the link at the bottom of this weekly newsletter OR  on our school website: www.strosecatholicschool.org
Attention all DRIVERS - PLEASE -on a regular school day, NO 1st - 8th Grade parents should arrive on campus for pick-up BEFORE 2:40 PM. (Unless you are picking up for early for appointment)
St. Rose Parents can not be lining up in the parking lot before 2:40 PM.  With Cardinal Newman dismissal at 2:25 each day, it becomes very hectic out there.  CN dismissal goes very quickly, IF SR parents are not blocking the lanes.  It really is all about the timing! Please share this information with ALL who will be picking up your children.  Thank You.

A Note from Mrs. Ryan
Dear Parents,

The St. Rose faculty, staff, and I are all looking forward to welcoming your children to a great new school year next Wednesday morning.  As I write this, our teachers are at work preparing their classrooms and decorating the hallways. Over the summer a brand new gym floor was installed and the blacktop was resurfaced. Thanks to our maintenance and gardening services, the entire campus looks spectacular.

Our elementary teaching and support staff will all be returning, although our third grade teacher, Caroline Dumanovski, will be taking maternity leave soon. The long-term sub is Miss Ciceley Tunde-Claye who is already well-known and loved by many of our students. Several teachers have recently decided to switch to their married names as we begin the new school year. In order to avoid confusion, I am listing them here:

Miss Caroline Hickey is now known as Mrs. Caroline Dumanovsky.
Miss Lindsey Hahn is now known as Mrs. Lindsey Mueller.
Mrs. Tracy Foell will be known as Mrs. Tracy Adams  (after her October wedding date)

We are also welcoming Mrs. Sheryl Doyle to the St. Rose staff. She will be in charge of the Kinder-care program that takes place daily after school in the Kindergarten classroom. Sheryl, who is a St. Rose parent, has prior school experience and has completed a certificate in early childhood education. I know our Kindergartners who will be attending this extended day program will have a great time with her.

Please know I am always happy to hear your ideas, questions, and concerns. The best way to connect with me is to begin with an email. My address is [email protected]. Of course, you can also call the school office. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Happy New School Year! See you soon.

Uniform update:
PE Shorts
We have gone to a new manufacture that will be more consistent throughout all grades.  You may notice the shorts may seem shorter than the previous. We don't want anyone worrying about the length not falling into the 'at the knee length' category as we expect for the uniform walking short, skirt, jumper or skort.  However, students are not allowed to roll up the waist to make them shorter. You may continue wearing the PE shorts previously purchased until your child grows out of them.
PE Sweatpants
You will notice there is no longer elastic at the bottom of the PE sweatpants. This was a decision made by the school administration. This will be the last year the students may wear the old sweatpants with elastic. The PE sweatpants are optional. After this year school year, please purchase the new version.
