The MAB Political Action Committee (PAC) invites you to experience Founders Brewery in Grand Rapids from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on August 5. This special fundraising event will feature a private tour of the brewery, dinner and, of course, brews direct from Founders taps! All proceeds benefit the MABPAC. Admission is $200 per person or $350 per couple. According to Michigan Campaign Finance Act no corporate donations are allowed under the law. FCC Adopts Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to Review EEO Rules

When the FCC initiated its most recent EEO audits, we mentioned that the Commission was planning a rulemaking to review the effectiveness of its EEO rules for broadcasting and multi-channel video operators. The FCC's Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking to review these rules has now been released.  Read More

State Rep. Coleman Introduces MSP Emergency Notification Program Bill
The MAB has learned that State Rep. Kevin Coleman (D-16) has introduced a bill ( H.B. 4697), which would require Michigan State Police (MSP) to create an emergency notification program to "rapidly disseminate useful information in a predetermined manner to radio and television stations within in this state and to wireless devices through the existing wireless emergency alert system operated under federal law."   Read More

FCC Approves Revamped Kids TV Rules
At its July 10 meeting, the FCC updated its children's television programming rules, providing "broadcasters greater scheduling flexibility, enables them to offer more diverse and innovative educational programming and relieves unnecessary burdens while ensuring that educational programming remains available to all children."   Read More

After 56 years on the job, WNMU-TV (Marquette) Station Manager Buce Turner has retired.  A retirement party was held June 28 in Marquette.   Read More

WDET's Michelle Srbinovich Leaving to Join New Journalism Venture
After a decade at Detroit's public radio station, WDET General Manager Michelle Srbinovich has resigned and accepted a position with the American Journalism Project (AJP). Srbinovich's last day at WDET will be July 12.   Read More

WGPR Debuts 'The Morning Hustle'
Radio One's WGPR-FM (Detroit) has announced a new morning drive show, "The Morning Hustle with Angie Ange, "On Air" Jordan and Lore'l. The show is based at sister station WKYS-FM in Washington, D.C. and will be heard in Detroit beginning July 15.   Read More

Siri Live Radio Will Include Access to 100,000 Stations
RadioInk reports that last month Apple announced that it will be making it easier for Siri users to play live radio stations via iPhones, iPads and HomePods.   Read More

Todd Noordyk to Sell Munising Stations to Roam Media
Great Lakes Radio, Inc. and Todd Noordyk of Marquette, MI have accepted a Letter of Intent to Purchase from Roam Media, Inc. of Munising, MI, operated by Tom Dolaskie, for the sale of radio stations WQXO AM/FM in Munising and WRPP FM in Manistique.   Read More

900th Program Milestone for Traverse City Radio Program, 'Words to the Wise'
On Tuesday, July 16, Midwestern Broadcasting's WTCM-AM (Traverse City) morning host Ron Jolly and Mike "The Professor" Sheehan will broadcast the 900th edition of their weekly radio program, "Words to the Wise" live from the stage of the Traverse City Opera House.   Read More

Battle Creek's WBCK Turns 71!
On July 9, 1948, WBCK went live as the third radio station to join the Battle Creek area. WBCK started as a 1000-watt directional AM station at 930 on the dial was built right after World War II, as building materials finally became available again.   Read More

Tom Hahn is the Vice President of Finance for the MAB and its multiple entities. He has been with the MAB since 2003 and handles accounting and finance for the organization. Before joining the MAB, he was in the banking industry, primarily in commercial lending. Hahn holds a BBA from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Michigan State University. His interests include reading and golf.

It indicates that "the licensee of each AM, FM, TV or Class A TV broadcast station must designate a person to serve as the station's chief operator."
