Application Tip #100
I am applying for a visa to complete my studies in Germany. Do I have to provide proof of financial resources?
Yes, you will have to prove that you have enough money to support yourself during your studies in Germany. For visa applications starting from September 1st, 2019, the new requirement for most students is that they have 10,236 Euros at their disposal for one year. For further and binding information, please reach out to the German embassy or consulate in your home country.

Fun Fact
Did you know...
... that on their first day of first grade, children in Germany typically get a Schultuete ("school cone")? A Schultuete is a colorful, decorated cone filled with small school supplies, toys, and candy. The roots of this tradition can be found in the early 1800s in the cities of Jena, Dresden and Leipzig. Parents would bring the Schultueten to school and hang them on a so-called Schultuetenbaum ("school cone tree"). On the first day of school, when the tree was "ripe" with Schultueten, first graders would find the cone with their name on it and be surprised by the edible snacks inside. Since then, students will typically receive their Schultueten before they leave home for school and the cones are filled with school supplies, as well as some sweet treats.
