Reinhardt University named No. 10 in Georgia

Reinhardt University was ranked No. 10 on the College Consensus list of Top Consensus Ranked Schools in Georgia 2018.

Symposium helps guide leaders
More than 100 business leaders, including Cherokee County School District Chief Communications Officer Barbara Jacoby (pictured), joined together in Flint Hall Wednesday for the second annual Leadership Symposium hosted by the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce and presented by Reinhardt University and its online learning partner, Savant Learning Systems. Dr. Joe Mullins has many years of experience in the business and administration sports professional role and takes students along for his journey as he continues in his career field.
Mullins wants students to use material from the classroom to connect with real-world situations and hopes to provide his students with the skills they need to feel ready for their future professions.
“I simply want my students to feel like they are prepared for the next steps in their future."
When he is not on campus with college students, Mullins is actively involved as a volunteer coach, working with youth football and high school and youth wrestling. ...

Congratulations to several Reinhardt alumni on their award-winning performances in a variety of productions.
The Metropolitan Atlanta Theater Awards honored assistant director of public safety operations Rhonda Kelley ("Black Comedy"), Hannah Craton '16 & Sophie Decker '14 ("Into the Woods") and Abi Sneathen '16 ("First Date").
Alumna Kate Johnson '14 was nominated for an award for her performance in "Black Comedy," and Morgan Brooks, technical and operational manager of the black box theater in Reinhardt University Theater, was nominated for set design for "Into the Woods." ...

Reinhardt to show Appalachian documentary, 'hillbilly'
|
|
Sally Rubin and Ashley York directed "hillbilly," a documentary exploring Appalachian culture stereotypes and the effects of the persona created by mass media. Rubin will attend a screening of the film on campus on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. in Flint Hall at Falany Performing Arts Center during Reinhardt's first Community Gathering event of the fall semester.
York hopes "hillbilly" will contribute important dialogue to the complex issue of representing a culture and represent the Appalachian in a more positive light than previously done. ...

The Drifters to perform Sept. 15 at Falany Center
|
|
The Drifters, an R&B vocal group formed in 1953 in New York City, are touring once again under the original management. The first musical group to include string instruments into R&B and the first musical group to sell 2 million records with the pop classic, "Up on the Roof," it's easy to see why "Billboard" magazine named them the second most successful recording artists of all time.
The Drifters will perform in Flint Hall at the Falany Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 3 and 7:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $40-45, seniors $35-40, children $10-15. ...

RESPYs honor Reinhardt's best of the best

The 2nd Annual Reinhardt Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards (RESPYs) is complete as athletes, coaches and families convened inside Brown Athletic Center to celebrate last season's accomplishments.
Nearly 800 people, including the Bryan family who were named Fans of the Year, attended the live program with a formal dinner and highlighted academic and team character accolades, individual sport success, department recognition and the unveiling of the 2018 Reinhardt University Athletics Hall of Fame class.
In total, 37 honors were presented, and four new members were welcomed into the Reinhardt Athletics Hall of Fame. ...

Make plans to support the Eagles next weekend
Saturday, Sept. 8 brings many opportunities to cheer on your Eagles, with women's and men's soccer, volleyball and football.
Women’s soccer plays against Bryan College at 5:30 p.m., and men’s soccer will take on Bryan College at 7:30 p.m. Both play at Ken White Field at University Stadium.
Volleyball goes against Brenau University in the Brown Athletic Center gym at 11 a.m. and again at 3 p.m. against Faulkner University of Alabama.
The stands will fill at Ken White Field at University Stadium once again for football at 1:30 p.m. to go up against Georgetown College. A Football After Party will follow the game. ..
