MISSISSAUGA FESTIVAL OF TREES

Celebrate the Winter Season, Art, Food and Community at the Mississauga Festival of Trees

MISSISSAUGA, ON, DECEMBER 7, 2021 A unique winter event combining art and food starts in Mississauga this week! The Mississauga Festival of Trees opens to the public this Friday, December 10th, and runs until the 19th at the Small Arms Inspection Building.

Backdropped with twinkling displays of seasonal lights, take a walk through a winter wonderland of art, food, and fun. The Mississauga Festival of trees is a unique, interactive event featuring tree and wood piling art installations by local artists and artist collectives in our community, locally handcrafted gifts, and diverse bites to eat.

Running for ten days, the festival will host a carefully curated exhibit of tree and wood pile art installations by local artists. Each installation will represent the artist’s interpretation of a tree, connecting the theme to their experiences and communities. The art installations will be on display throughout the entire festival and guests are invited to explore the installations as they experience the other elements of the festival.

An Artisan Market will run from December 10th-12th, featuring a curated collection of artisans from across Ontario. This will be the go-to spot for unique, handcrafted, and locally made gifts.

A Culinary Market will run from December 17th-18th and will feature an array of artisanal food and drink vendors from across Ontario. A delectable culinary one-stop-shop for grabbing a bite and shopping for sweet and savoury gifts, culinary demonstrations and foodie sessions will be running throughout the Market dates.

The Ally Loves Pajamas: Family PJ Party will be held on December 19th, celebrating the launch of the children’s book Ally Loves Pajamas by Mississauga author and illustrator Christina and Paul Somers. Families are welcome for an afternoon of fun and entertainment (recommended for children aged 4-7 year old).

Throughout the festival Creative Workshops will be offered, teaching participants a variety of artistic skills including floral centrepiece making, holiday cardmaking, indiginous deer hide bag making, and more!

Wrapped up with stunning displays of holiday lights, the Mississauga Festival of Trees will be a magical holiday experience for people of all ages to enjoy.

"Our vision for the festival is to celebrate the winter season and provide visitors with an immersive experience, showcasing artistically designed contemporary tree and wood pile art installations. The installations provide a backdrop for visitors to enjoy festival activities such as the artisan and culinary markets, entertainment, family events and workshops. COVID-19 has had a major impact on people’s well-being. As part of the recovery, the festival gives people an opportunity to re-engage with their community, raise people’s spirits and support our economy by buying local.”says Diane LaPointe, Executive Director, CreativeHub 1352
