Reminder: Worship in Fellowship Hall
Worship will be held in Fellowship Hall. You may want to bring a pillow to sit on and you definitely want to bring a sweater or jacket.

This Sunday: Participants Report on Guatemala
In July, we commissioned eight people to go on our behalf to Guatemala. They would be working at the Hogar Miguel Magone and Hogar Maria; helping with the construction work at Hope Academy; and interacting with the Mayan women and men at the Elder Center.

This Sunday, Bella will be speaking about Hope Academy.  When she first went to Guatemala four-years ago, the site of the school was an avocado farm. Now a building is under construction which will house a school exclusively for girls.

Theo will talk about the work being done with the children who live at the Hogar. Eighty boys and 20 girls call this facility "home." But it is more than a place to sleep and eat. It is filled with laughter, music, and a lot of love.

Anne will talk about the elderly Mayan women whose families were killed during the long civil war. With no family to support them, the elders are dependent upon the care they receive from the Elder Center.

Other participants in the trip, Jimmy and Pat Clements, Allen Mosiman, and Von Pilcher will also take part in the service.
el divino Reminder on El Divino's Clothes Closet
This Sunday, August 11th is the last day to bring donations for El Divino Salvador's Clothes Closet for this month. Thank you for continuing to support this shared project of Parkway and El Divino.

Keeping the Bookkeeper
Sue Jackson and her husband are moving to San Antonio. Chuck has taken a job that makes relocation necessary. However, Sue has done such a wonderful job handling the church finances it was going to be very difficult to find a replacement.

The solution is keeping Sue in our employment and making it possible for her to work remotely. Bill Quinton is securing the necessary computer hardware and software to connect Sue remotely into the church financial systems. Allen and Bill are working on new processes for approving transactions. Even the phone system is being modified so when you call the church to ask a financial question, you will be transferred to Sue in San Antonio.

Hopefully, this transition will be seamless, but chances are we will find a bump or two in the road we didn't anticipate. Please be patient with us during the transition and know that we are keeping a valuable employee.
