National Library Week 2021: Welcome to Your Library
The theme for National Library Week (April 4-10, 2021), “Welcome to Your Library,” promotes the idea that libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building – and that everyone is welcome to use their services. During the pandemic, IVPL has been going above and beyond to adapt to our changing world by expanding our resources and continuing to meet the needs of our users. Whether people visit in person or virtually, IVPL offers opportunities for everyone to explore new worlds and become their best selves through access to technology, multimedia content, and educational programs.
Study Rooms
Do you a quiet space to study? Perhaps a private room for a meeting? Study Rooms available free of charge for two-hour sessions once per day. Rooms include a table and two chairs, a power outlet and WiFi access. Limit of two people in a study room. A mask is required at all times in the library and in the study rooms. We recommend advance reservations
The Foundation of Friends is a group of dedicated volunteers that strives to help IVPL grow and serve the community. They work with the Board of Trustees and library staff to provide funds and resources that allow the library to continue to grow along with the needs of the community.
In this section, you will find news, announcements, and plans from members of the FOF on how they plan to work with IVPL to expand its resources.
I truly believe in the mission of the Library and the Foundation of Friends which is why I love serving on the FOF board. Having worked for a nonprofit for 30 years, I know the importance of nonprofits and the benefits they bring to communities.
Indian Valley Public Library is a cornerstone of our community and one of the many reasons it is healthy and thriving. Libraries give people the opportunity to seek employment, explore medical research, experience new ideas, get lost in wonderful stories, and provide a sense of community, as well as a place for gathering. Children enjoy the stories that are read to them, as well as browsing through the library’s vast collection of books. Over the past year, many families have had to spend more time at home, assisting with their child’s education, as well as looking for additional forms of entertainment and education to help pass the time. Having the ability to offer curb-side pickup and virtual programs helped tremendously during this period. Today the library is back open 7 days a week providing our youth, teens, seniors and special needs' population a great place to continue to utilize this very essential staple in our community.
I look forward to the continued growth of our programs and services as well as the opportunity to look beyond our current walls as we plan and collaborate to develop new partners and endless possibilities.
