Tell Your Credit Union Story
Since the start of credit unions in the 1850s, "people helping people" has been the philosophy of the credit union movement.

Every day, credit unions and their members live the " people helping people" philosophy - and everyone has a story. Whether it is a professional brand story, a member impact story or a community impact story - we want to hear yours!
Volunteer for Iowa Credit Union Convention Community Impact Project
Each year as part of the Iowa Credit Union Convention, a small group of volunteers, including Crashers, partake in a community impact project. Register to participate in this year's project with our 2019 Crashers during convention.

This year's event will take place on Wednesday, September 18. Credit union volunteers from across the state will read to Des Moines area children and create literacy kits to encourage engaging learning experiences.

From Kindergarten through 3rd grade, students are learning to read. After 3rd grade, they must read to learn. Once they fall behind, it's nearly impossible to catch up. Children who aren't reading proficiently by 3rd grade are four times more likely to drop out of school, directly affecting their financial future. Learn more and sign up here
Directors' Track Expanded at 2019 Iowa Credit Union Convention
Board members help drive the future of each credit union, and carry responsibility of overseeing the organization's operations. ICUL has expanded the Directors' Track offerings for the 2019 Iowa Credit Union Convention!

Board members are not required to attend all track sessions, but are encouraged to participate in those of benefit to their credit unions.

One segment of this year's track is the Director and CEO Workshop, facilitated by John Lass and Alan Peppers. This educational event is a prime opportunity for board members to learn about governance best practices, fiduciary responsibility and how skill sets possessed by board members now will differ from those needed in the future.
Greater Iowa's Katie Sembach Earns Certified Credit Union Executive Designation
This year, the CUNA Management School graduated eighty-seven certified credit union executives. The program is a three-year time commitment, and participants must pass exams, complete projects and give an oral presentation. Katie Sembach of Greater Iowa Credit Union in Ames was a graduate of the 2019 class.

This CCUE designation demonstrates the highest level of aptitude in credit union leadership. Congratulations, Katie!
