Dear PPRA Members,
Welcome to a new year that promises to be a milestone for engaged members of PPRA! It is my honor to serve as your 41st President.
We are launching our 75th Anniversary year with an amazing event.
The Philadelphia City Council will honor our organization with a special resolution in late September. We hope to have a strong contingent of PPRA members at Council, embracing all our
generations of practitioners.
Immediate President
Nina Scimenes and 2017 - 2018 President
Adam Dvorin are planning a mid-January Anniversary gala to celebrate our accomplishments. Please reach out to them if you want to volunteer.
Speaking of
Nina, I want to embrace her for all the great work of the last year. Please thank her for a decade of dedication. Nina and longtime member
Joanne Calabria also led PPRA's tribute to photographer
Robert Mendelsohn after his sudden passing. He will be missed as a supportive friend to many PPRA members.
I'm proud to welcome
College Possible as our
PRoactive Partner. We are working on volunteer opportunities to engage with this organization, which assists first-generation college students with placements.
The Board of Governors completed its summer retreat and left with a clear blueprint focusing on capturing former and new members in the
"Drive for 75," and practicing conservative financial management.
VP Membership Michelle Sonsino will help take us on the road to meet potential agency members as part of this goal.
We read your survey responses and are focused on more educational programming. Here are some
in the works, organized by VP Programs Kellsey Turner, Member Hope Horwitz, and VP External Affairs Jaime Martorana:
I'll continue to give monthly updates on board members' projects. The first: President-Elect London Faust has organized information about all board positions, a project started with Nina that will shorten the transitional time for future boards.
It's the best year ever to join your friends at PPRA!
Dierdre C. Hopkins
2019-2020 President
