Applications Are Open for Admission to Ohio State's LL.M program

The spring application cycle for admission to the LL.M. program at Ohio State's Moritz College of Law is from August 1 to October 15 for enrollment the following January. We encourage applications for spring admission as soon as possible in the application cycle.

Looking for Photos of Brazilian Alumni

The Brazil Gateway team requests that Brazilian alumni send photos of their time at Ohio State in preparation for Sesquicentennial celebrations in Brazil. Ohio State will celebrate 150 years since its founding and we will commemorate the universitys 55-year history in Brazil as well. Please, be part of this historic moment and send your photos and a quote of what it meant (and means) to be a Buckeye to Jane Aparecido by August 30.

Fulbright Opportunities in Brazil as Distinguished Chairs

Prestigious Brazilian universities and institutes will host scholars for research and lecturing as part of the Fulbright program. Law, international relations, public policy and history are among the areas of interest. The deadline is September 16.

New Brazilians to Watch: Helen Toledo Moreira de Almeida

"My name is Helen Toledo Moreira de Almeida, and I am a graduate from Universidade do Vale do Paraíba) in São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Brazil. Upon graduating from Law school, I pursued two post graduate programs, specializing in labor law and sports law. After I passed the Brazilian BAR Exam, I developed my career with focus on employment, business sports, contracts and corporate law, working on various lawsuits and contracts for multinational companies in Brazil."

Immigration and Naturalization Services

Student Legal Services (SLS), which contracts with Ohio State to provide legal services to eligible Ohio State students now provides immigration and naturalization legal services. To be eligible to receive legal services, students must attend classes on the Columbus campus, be in a degree-seeking program, enrolled in at least one non-distance learning course and not have waived the SLS fee for the participation year they are seeking services.

Previous Brazilian Students Association Leadership at Ohio State

In the previous edition of this newsletter, we introduced the new Brazilian Students Association (BRASA) leadership for the academic year 2019-2020. We would now like to give a special thanks and highlight the successes of those who started the organization, kept it running and brought it back after some time of inactivity. These are talented people who were able to do great things for the Brazilian community on campus and still keep up with school work, dissertations and thesis. We are proud to have you all as Buckeyes!

Global Perspectives: Aline Gabbardo

My time as a PhD student at Ohio State was an amazing opportunity a long journey of learning and growth. I'm happy to briefly share this experience with you. I graduated with a PhD degree in materials science and engineering this May at the Spring 2019 Commencement. I'm a fresh alumna and a very proud Buckeye!
