Teach Kids About Hackers & Trolls
Google has an educational program designed to teach kids about phishing, internet harassment, passwords, and other internet safety issues. Called "Be Internet Awesome," it includes a classroom curriculum and a video game called Interland. It was developed with help from teachers, YouTube videographers, and internet safety and literacy organizations, and resources are available online for free.
New Membership Challenges!
As you begin this new school year, think about setting goals!  Goals for your kids, goals for you, goals for your PTA.  Visit the Membership Web Page at  www.newmexicopta.org  to find out about this year's new membership challenges, including getting more male members, more grandparent members, more community members, and others!
 
Start the year off right, by completing the All Aboard Challenge - in August turn in membership for every member of your Board of Directors.  Use the updated documents below.

PTA Takes Action
The gun violence epidemic continues to plague our nation's communities, children and families. More must be done immediately to protect our nation's most vulnerable populations. Time is of the essence and we ask that you send a letter to your Members of Congress urging them to enact sensible gun safety and violence prevention policies that will help keep children safe and sound.

All you need to do is click on the "Take Action" button below to send a letter to your Member of Congress. Thank you for your continued support to protect all children from gun violence.

National PTA is  committed  to federal efforts to protect children and youth from gun violence and believes Congress must enact legislation that will help prevent future tragedies from occurring while preserving the lawful use of firearms for sport and personal protection.

"VAPE" is a documentary and campaign about the use of E-cigarettes especially in the youth community to understand the spectrum of health issues and dangers associated with these products.   Because the number of youth users is rising dramatically, the program will help explain the product and its various uses including for nicotine and cannabis consumption.
 
The program is underwritten by: The City of Albuquerque Department of Family and Community Services in association with SafeTeen New Mexico, New Mexico Department of Health / Family Health Bureau and Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Program, State Farm Insurance, New Mexico Heart Institute Foundation, University of New Mexico / Campus Office of Substance Abuse & Prevention, Cooperative Educational Services, New Mexico School Boards Association, New Mexico Public Education Department and the New Mexico Pediatric Society.
