Simone Biles - WOW, what a story!

A Note From Pastor Linda

"I can do all this through the power of Christ. He gives me strength." ~Philippians 4

Dear ChURch Family,

"Maybe it's good we don't know what will happen next in our stories, because if we did, we might not turn the page. Or we might skip ahead and never experience the good that comes out of the hard moment that we're living through." ~Simone Biles, from Courage to Soar

Simone Biles inspired viewers across the world to do double and triple takes of her extraordinary floor exercise at the US Gymnastics championships on Sunday after she nailed a historic triple-double.
Simone's journey to the top ranked gymnast has not been easy. Born to a mother addicted to drugs and alcohol, Simone was 3 years old when she and her three siblings were placed in foster care. Once up for adoption, her grandfather, Ron, and his wife, Nellie, stepped in. In her book, Biles speaks about how her faith has influenced her life- both in the gym and in the world.

Here is a fun-fact about Simone: She was home schooled to accommodate intensive training schedules in the gym, but they always went to church on Sunday morning. In addition, Simone would get out early from Wednesday gymnastic practice- to the irritation of her trainer- to go to Bible instruction. Simone learned about keeping first things first.

"Keep turning the page"- has been our instruction in our summer reading plan in Revelation. I hope that you have found our summer series on Revelation both informational as well as inspirational- rescuing Revelation from being puzzling and irrelevant to begin a profound and practical book! We've got two more weeks... KEEP TURNING THE PAGE and FOLLOW THE LAMB.

Be the chURch... Because UR!

 ~Pastor Linda

Interested in meeting and serving our Neighbors in Jamaica?
Get involved with Hosanna coming this Winter, 2020. A Mission Jamaica trip combines a service project, with time for reflection and spiritual rest. It allows a person to experience an international mission field that is close to home, yet far enough away to immerse yourself in another culture for a week. Over 30 years of accompanying our Jamaican neighbors, has led to over 35 Evangelical Lutheran Churches in America congregations and several colleges from Minnesota as well as North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina and Illinois in partnership with St. Andrew's in Mahtomedi, MN to get involved to make a difference for this community.

Come and see...get connected with your global neighbors! Mission Jamaica has provided a way for folk to love and serve our neighbors just as Jesus taught. Jesus said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Mark 12:30-31

This is an unforgettable opportunity for any age. Registration is open now, space is limited so SIGN UP TODAY! Travel as a family, individual, couple, or small group. This LIVE. LOVE.
