August Sunset

As we approach the last few weeks of warm weather and
the final restful days of family vacations ...

we also turn our thoughts to tomorrow,
a new sunrise,  a new school year,
and hopefully a renewed effort to serve God and one another.

May God Bless our parish, our beautiful family of faith,
as we begin a new Pastoral Year.

Sunset at Holy Land USA in Waterbury

Family Time

Our parish family is strong and vibrant thanks to programs like these...

and people like you!

Mobile Foodshare  is an anti-hunger organization  based in Bloomfield that receives donations of fresh and nonperishable food from farms, grocery chains, corporations and local food drives and then distributes that food to pantries, meal programs & food truck sites for those in need.

A Foodshare truck comes to Sacred Heart Church every other Friday.
(The specific dates are printed in our bulletin every week.)

At 10am on the Thursday before each "Foodshare Friday", volunteers transport food from the St. Clare Food Pantry at St. Paul Church over to Sacred Heart Church Hall and set up for the Friday distribution.

The Foodshare truck at Sacred Heart opens at 11:45am. Many people in need come to the truck for fresh items and then head down to the Church Hall for non-perishable items that were donated by our parishioners!

In addition to providing a much needed supplement to the FoodShare truck, the non-perishable items that are donated to our St. Clare Food Pantry benefit Berlin families in need as well as other local organizations such as the Friendship Center in New Britain.

Our St. Clare Food Pantry is currently in need of all items. Due to many parishioners being away on vacations, our supplies are low!   Items needed now include juices/drinks, canned fruits & vegetables and cereal.

For information regarding the St. Clare Food Pantry or Mobile Foodshare, including information about volunteering,
please contact Ed Como at 860-841-7151 or Nancy Timbrell 860-601-7866.

Thank you to our parishioners for your continued support!

Fr. Michael spoke about the "Eucharistic Miracle of Buenos Aires" in his homily a few months ago. We received a few questions and comments on this, so we thought we'd share a video about it for those who missed it or for anyone who would like to learn more about this amazing event.
