DEACON ELECTION- Begins Today, August 9th

INSTRUCTIONS
With safety protocols in-mind due to the COVID pandemic we will have a slightly different approach in carrying out the Deacon election this year.

FOR MEMBERS WORSHIPING IN-PERSON: As you enter the building for the worship service, you will receive a paper ballot. At the end of the worship service, you will be instructed to complete your selections and drop your completed ballot into a collection box as you exit the sanctuary.

FOR MEMBERS WORSHIPING FROM HOME/ONLINE- You may come to the church office this Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday (Aug 10-12) between the hours of 8:30 am- 4:30 pm to complete and submit your ballot. A table will be set up just inside the front door of the church office. You will sign-in on the clipboard. Then you will complete your anonymous ballot and put it in the container provided. For those unable to come to the office, you may call in your vote to the church office 919-552-3522.

Please remember that only church members are allowed to vote. Thank you for your participation in this important process in selecting leadership for Piney Grove.

Today is the last day for our summer interns, Grace Hipp and Nick Smith. Please join us in a goodbye parade tonight beginning at 6 pm. Please line up at the bus shelter and plan to ride by and give them a happy send off. Feel free to flood them with posters, cards, words of encouragement, or just happy honks of cheer and thankfulness for their service here. We are going to miss them!

PLANNING FOR CHILDREN'S DEPARTMENT RE-OPENING IN STEP 2
We are making plans to re-open the PGKIDS children's department during the 11:00 am worship hour. This means we will open the Nursery to be spread out among the entire preschool department classrooms and change the ages to be 0 to 3 years-old. Kids Worship will operate downstairs in the fellowship hall and will include ages 4 years-old through 6th grade. Re-opening will be strictly based on volunteer responses. Anyone who has served in the children's ministry is being asked to consider either serving in the nursery once a month at the 11 am hour or serving in the Kids Worship Hour at 11 am once a month. We need at least 10 volunteers each Sunday to open the children's department for the 11 am hour and to adhere to proper social distancing guidelines. If you are able to commit to one Sunday a month please let Michelle know ASAP. If you have any questions about how this will work, please contact Michelle Frye at mfrye@pineygrovebc.org.
PGKIDS REMOTE LEARNING PROGRAM
In light of COVID-19, PGKids desires to come alongside primary caregivers to provide on-site support for virtual learning needs, teach biblical truths and love the children unconditionally, just as Christ loves us. We would like to offer an opportunity for children who are active in Piney Grove Kids to participate in a remote learning experience on the campus of Piney Grove Baptist Church. The PG Kids Remote Learning Program will encompass academics, recreation, and spiritual development in a small group setting.

The PGKIDS Remote Learning Program is for:
  • Children in grades K- 6th
  • Children who are active in PG Kids
  • Children who are enrolled in online learning with their individual school.

NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
PINEY GROVE RE-OPENING PLAN- Update
Planning is underway to move into Step 2 of our church re-opening plan. The exact date has not yet been decided but we are aiming for the end of August/early September. Many things must happen in order to move forward. The biggest need in order to move forward is having volunteers.

Here are some of the things we're working toward:
  • Allowing Adult Classes & Small Groups to meet in larger rooms with social distancing. This would be by reservation and a weekly meeting schedule will be created. Days and times will be available throughout the week, not just on Sundays.
  • Wednesday Prayer meetings and Senior Adults may resume meeting with social distancing and safety protocols.
  • 180 Youth Ministry will resume a normal schedule but with precautions and social distancing.
  • Restrooms will be open with extra cleaning during services and high-traffic times.
  • Piney Grove Kids Worship (ages 4 years old- 6th Grade) will resume in-person during the 11 am hour on Sunday mornings. Additional volunteers are the biggest need for this to happen. The entire Fellowship hall will be utilized to maintain social distancing. Attendance will be limited and registration will be required.
  • Piney Grove Kids Nursery (ages birth to 3 years-old) will re-open if enough volunteers are available. All rooms in the preschool department will be utilized to maintain small minimal group size. Attendance will be limited and registration will be required.

We will continue to give you updates as they're available. Keep an eye out for ways you can serve. Please be aware that moving to Step 2 is dependent upon having enough volunteers.

WEEKLY BULLETIN & NEWSLETTER COMBO
For the next few months the information that would normally be put in the monthly newsletter will be included in the weekly bulletin emails. This will not only give you the latest and greatest information every week but will also allow us to streamline our communications in the church office. Once we have moved into Step 3 of the PGBC re-opening plan then we will reassess our communication strategies and possibly resume the separate monthly newsletters at that time.

For those who are homebound or receive a printed copy of the newsletter in the mail, we will continue to mail you information at the beginning of each month to include the bulletin, church calendar, and monthly birthday list. If you have any questions please contact the church office.
