Mercedes-Benz U.S. International (MBUSI) in Tuscaloosa is among the first auto plants in the world to implement elements of Mercedes’ new MO360 digitized production system. Mercedes-Benz Cars Operations 360 (MO360) is being dubbed a “digital ecosystem” that uses a mix of software and hardware in all phases of the auto production process with the goal of improving efficiency and quality.


Airbus opens new education training center in Alabama

A new aerospace exhibition and education center is open in Mobile, giving teens and adults interested in aerospace careers a place to be inspired, educated and equipped with the knowledge they need to succeed.

Flight Works Alabama is a cooperative effort between the Airbus Foundation, the State of Alabama and a group of educational partners and commercial sponsors. Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said the facility is an investment in the future.


UAH’s Meyer Gulledge wins Gilman Scholarship grant to study abroad

If you need a translation, Meyer Gulledge, a Chemical Engineering senior at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), a part of The University of Alabama System, would certainly be able to help. Gulledge has been announced as the winner of a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship for 2020, and he has chosen to use this grant to study German abroad through the auspices of the language organization Institut für Internationale Kommunikation (IIK).

The Gilman Scholarship is a grant program administered by the U.S. Department of State and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It is open to U.S. citizen undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study programs worldwide. These grants enable students to select study-abroad programs where they can sharpen their skills and meet fellow scholars, as well as network overseas in their respective fields.

Walking your dog could become the law for German dog owners

Taking your dog for walks twice a day for at least an hour in total could soon become the law in Germany.

There could also be a ban on keeping dogs chained for long periods.Rules are also being devised to crack down on "puppy farms" by banning breeders from looking after more than three litters at any one time. "Pets are not cuddly toys, their needs have to be taken into account," Agriculture Minister Julia Klöckner said about the planned changes.
