Eblen Charities Newsletter October 27, 2021
$30 for the 30th!
Join us as we begin to celebrate 30 years of serving our wonderful community.

With #GivingTuesday taking place on the 30th of November this year we are going to take the opportunity to celebrate our 30th with the Eblen Charities $30 for the 30th fundraising event.

Stay glued to our social media or prepare for an email blast or two, during November and December, as we celebrate and give thanks to everyone for choosing to give back to our community as part of our organization.

There will be prizes and fun in store as we hope to make up for lost events due to covid and close out our 30th year by simply sharing the story of Eblen Charities and donating $30 (or more) along the way.

Due to the generosity of a long-time friend, our first $10,000 in donations will be matched! Please help us take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

If you or your business is interested in adding something special of your own or would like to share your Eblen story with us as part of our celebration, please contact Susan Riddle: sriddle@eblencharities.org

Thank you for all that you do, because we do it all together!

If you would like to be among the first, the fundraiser is now open on-line!
This Month at Eblen
Annual Pumpkin Fundraiser!

Area companies, banks, credit unions, restaurants, schools, Ingles and neighborhoods have come together in the month of October for the Eblen Charities BOOster and Pumpkin fundraising campaign. Thank you to all of you who purchased these happy little icons from our area students, at Ingles Markets, Bojangles or at your bank or Credit union.

The BOOster and Pumpkins are the fall fundraising campaign that brings the community together in very creative ways. The support from the schools has been overwhelming, as we have been delivering pumpkins all month long, and many schools have run out more than once! We are excited to get the results from each school. The funds we raise from Pumpkins help families and students with various needs all year long.
W.D. Williams Elementary

We just want to give a big thanks to W.D. Williams Elementary, for all the fun posts to showcase their fun ideas for raising money for the Eblen Charities pumpkin fundraiser - from a giant pumpkin thermometer to multiple photo slide shows of all the students and teachers getting in on the fun that we just love to share.
Gearing up for the 41st Annual Smoky Mountain Toy Run
Saturday, November 6

This year's Toy Run is Dedicated to the Memory and Service of Steve Caraker.

For the first 15 years, the Toy Run operated through a loose-knit group of volunteers, all with the same mission in mind, “FOR THE KIDS.” In 1996 the Smoky Mountain Chapter of the Harley Owners Group made the commitment to become a primary sponsor and to begin the daunting task of helping organize, plan and implement the former Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade. Together, the Toy Run founders, Gene Lummus, and the Smoky Mountain HOG Chapter presided over some of the largest Toy Run’s Buncombe County ever witnessed.

Through the years the name of the Toy Run has evolved from the original name to the present; “Smoky Mountain Toy Run”. Today the Toy Run operates under a corporate charter and all proceeds benefit Eblen Charities Saint Nicholas Project.
Thank you Smoky Mountain H.O.G. for your support and what you do for the children in our community! These 120 bicycles will make the kids who are served through the Eblen Charities Saint Nicholas Project very happy! Thanks to those who supported the Christmas in July ride, where funds were raised to provide these bikes!

Eblen Charities Fall Coat Drive & Distribution
The Eblen Charities Coat Distribution was a huge success thanks to so many generous donations from our community. All the winter coats and extra items donated were given to hundreds of families. We are thankful to volunteers who helped put the store together and for those who worked in the store to help folks get the items they need to keep warm this winter.

We are grateful to the Reserve officers, Frost and Curry for volunteering their time at Eblen events throughout the year.
