May was a busy and successful month for ADAO!
Recently, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) staff risked their jobs by voicing concerns to ADAO about the lack of proper EPA asbestos regulations. In the New York Times article
"EPA Leaders Disregarded Agency's Experts in Issuing Asbestos Rule, Memos Show,"
it becomes clear that EPA ignored internal emails from their own scientists and lawyers citing their concerns with EPA's incomplete asbestos risk evaluation and failure to implement TSCA reform.
As the hearing reinforced, a federal ban on asbestos is the only way to prevent asbestos exposure in order to eradicate asbestos-caused diseases. ARBAN is made to do just that. In our latest blog,

Just a few short weeks after the hearing, ADAO had follow up meetings with members of Congress and EPA Assistant Administrator Alexandra Dunn regarding the bipartisan concern voiced at the legislative hearing. During our meeting with Asst. Administrator Dunn, we hand
delivered a letter signed by 26 of the leading experts and scientists
regarding the EPA's narrow and limited risk evaluation policies. In the letter, the expert community makes clear that a full asbestos risk evaluation is critical to protecting public health.
