SUMMER
Saturday was the longest day of the year, and the official start of summer.  As always, for us in New Hampshire, there were days when we thought it would never arrive. But, arrive, it most gloriously has !… and with that arrival the state has allowed some businesses to open up. Shops will be extending their hours and if proper distancing is feasible, restaurants may serve inside, tho patio dining is preferable in this fine weather. The waters of our local lakes are welcoming swimmers and boaters.  Even with the good weather and relaxed restrictions, the pandemic is still with us. Hundreds in the community are impacted by this unprecedented event especially businesses and their employees serving the tourist industry who rely on this historically busy time of year to survive and prosper. Project Sunapee urges everyone to "Think globally, Shop locally” to help all our neighbors weather these uncertain times.

All local food pantries are especially appreciative of donations of cash, credit cards and tangible foodstuffs to assist neighbors in need.  Please remember, even with the good weather and relaxed restrictions, the pandemic is still with us and the usual mantra of "wear a mask, socially distance and wash your hands” is a good one to follow.

Such observance is not really a hardship, it’s wise & thoughtful... let’s keep those Covid cases down.

SUNAPEE HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Word from the Sunapee Historical Society indicates the Museum will remain closed at least thru June, then reassess to see if limited hours will be possible. In the meantime, they have relevant historical displays close to the doors that change every other week.  Current display features Sunapee’s recent graduates with photos & memorabilia.  For further updates on the August History Cruise and postponed/rescheduled programs, please visit https://www.sunapeehistoricalsociety.org/
UPDATES AND INFORMATION
Other Historical and Community groups, Garden clubs, Barn Playhouse, The Livery, LSPA, Center for the Arts, Summer Music Associates, The FELLS and Town Recreation Departments wish they could simply throw open the doors and offer all their usual special events, programs, sporting activities, movies and concerts around the lake, however, be assured they are all adapting to rapidly changing circumstances in an endeavor to present some of the above for your pleasure in reality or virtually.  Project Sunapee via the "HAPPENINGS” will keep you informed to the best of our ability.
"FitTrail"... AN IDEA AND PROJECT
WELL WORTH SUPPORTING
Help Me With My Bronze Award!
By Celia Osborne

My name is Celia and I am a Girl Scout Junior and currently in the 4th grade at Sunapee Central Elementary School. I would really love to get support and donations for our new FitTrail!

We really want to add a FitTrail along the Sugar River and to stay on all Town owned property. We will put the starting point at the Sunapee Information Booth and it will go past the Town Offices, then it will go up the hill and stop at the Gravel Lot by the water pump house, then turn back around. We already have the Town approval and all we need is donations of money and/ or materials.

After COVID 19 restrictions pass we will also take help putting our FitTrail in the ground as a donation. This is a long lasting project and we would LOVE lots of help with our project! Thank you!

We have made a PowerPoint presentation that we would love you to check out. View on Google Drive
CARPE-ING THE DIEM
Summer breezes have arrived at last, but they've swept in on winds of change, and the air they bring is charged with more than lilac and wild rose. It carries the diverse voices of our nation speaking as one. In a blink of history's eye, that nation has gone from social distancing to social action. Now nearly everyone is wondering how to help. While there is no single answer, ask the experts and they'll tell you that one step on the march to a better world matters more than most. And on November 3rd, we, the people, can take it together. That's the point in time at which the point is ours to make and the wheel is ours alone to take. And the only tools we need to steer it are a pencil and a ballot. With those in our hands, we hold the keys. But we can't unlock that brighter and righter future unless we first register to vote. Contact your local Town Clerk's Office. UNTIL NEXT WEEK
May light and warmth fill your days, no matter where you are. Project Sunapee hopes to safely see you all soon; until then, take good care.
Reminder: Even outdoors, when in a group…
observe "social distancing” and wear a mask!

Please be safe and respectful of others.
