New Programs Librarian
Please join me in congratulating Danelle. She has received a promotion and will take on the newly created, full-time role of NWPL Adult Services/Programs Librarian.
Danelle will continue to serve on the adult circulation desk several days per week and very soon she will also work several days each week on NWPL adult programs. Danelle officially begins her new full-time role during the week of September 18. . . .

La Leche League breastfeeding support group is free and open to all mothers (and soon to be mothers!) who would like to discuss breastfeeding related issues or to just get together with other mothers.

Join The North Chapel Spiritual Exploration for Children and Families Committee in a WEEKLY series "Story & Yoga Time with Angel Rubino" at the Norman Williams Public Library. This is a free weekly series that will include a story, yoga, movement, meditation and more!

The Idiot
by Fyodor Dostoevsky
The Idiot
is considered one of Dostoevskty's greatest works, although not as popular as Crime and Punishment or the Brothers Karamazov. It is said to be his most autobiographical work --Dostoevsky, like his hero, was an epileptic. The book was written in 1867-69 while he was abroad after fleeing from his creditors in Russia.
The title is an ironic reference to the hero, Prince Myshkin, whose goodness and simplicity lead some people to think he is stupid. Myshkin is sort of a Russian Christ figure, who embodies the values Dostoevsky cherished - altruism, meekness, kindness and love.

The Norman Williams Public Library welcomes cribbage players of all abilities (though in the interest of other players, we are looking for those who have a basic familiarity with the game already) to play and enjoy the company of other area players.

Thursday Afternoon Knitting Group
Knitters are invited to meet on the Mezzanine of NWPL every Thursday afternoon. All knitters are welcome - from beginners to experts. We will knit together, learn together and provide each other assistance when needed. Plan to bring your current project, knitting questions or problems, or a pattern to share.

Qigong on the Mezzanine: Free
with Gerry Sandweiss
In Qigong, your awareness is awakened in the first lesson and benefits accrue immediately. When practiced, Qigong helps to reawaken our sense of joy. No equipment needed except one's body.
Gerry Sandweiss has been a student and practitioner Qigong for fifteen years. Classes will be held Saturday mornings at 8:30. Classes held on the NWPL mezzanine - enter through back door of library. Please wear loose clothing and bring a mat and notebook. These classes are suitable for everyone, regardless of age or ability.

Book donations - Bring It On!
Thank you for your patience. We are now all set to receive your book donations. Feel free to bring books in good salable condition into the library anytime we are open. We are happy to give you a tax donation receipt. Income we receive from the book sale is a significant contributor to the operating budget of the library. We greatly appreciate your generosity.

NWPL Art Committee gifts
The shows curated by the NWPL Art Committee have become so popular, they are now booking into 2019 for solo shows, as well as our seasonal group shows. In addition, our NWPL Art Committee is enriching the library community by adding to our collection. We now are able to offer passes to the Shelburne Museum and the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center AND subscriptions to Plein Air and Art New England!

Water now available at NWPL!
Thanks to the generous donations of our patrons, the Norman Williams Public Library has installed a hot and cold water dispenser in the Room of Requirement, just to the left when you enter the library.
