Sunday Breakfast
Breakfast this coming Sunday, October 13, will be provided by guest chefs, Joshua & Jenni Anderson.

Our Sunday topic is on CS Lewis taught by Dave Kirchinger. We will cover his biography and his writings. If you want to do any pre-reading for discussion sake, we will cover Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, his science fiction space travel trilogy (Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra and That Hideous Strength), and the Chronicles of Narnia.

Please plan on joining everyone in Board Hall between 8:30am and 9:45 where you will not only enjoy great food but a time for fellowship.

Blessing of the Animals Service
Saturday, October 12th at 5:30pm

Bring your pets, blankets and/or lawn chairs for this annual service, where we bless God's wonderful creatures...all types and sizes.

Signs will designate directions to the event. Please have all animals on leash, or caged, or otherwise contained. As always, this service is for everyone, not just parishioners.

Winter Foyer Groups Sign-Ups
Foyer Groups are groups of 6-8 (could be more) people that meet for a meal (at someone's home or at a restaurant). Every person (or couple) takes a turn arranging a meeting.  After the Winter meetings, new groups will begin in the Spring.

Besides having fun and getting to know each other, Foyer Groups offer an excellent opportunity to discuss where our church is now, where it is going and how we feel.   Of course, the groups have no assigned topics and people may just want to let the conversations ramble and flow, laugh and have a good time.

Sign-ups are during October.   Call Calvin Riley Pinney: 245 1623 or Caroline Eddleman: 253-0135 for information or questions.

Stewardship Gathering  Forward in Faith 2020

Dear Fellow Parishioners of St. Luke's;

As autumn nears, your Clergy, Vestry, Stewardship and Finance Committees are preparing to identify the needs and opportunities of our parish, to continue to grow and nurture us and our community.

During the month of October, we have scheduled a number of individual gatherings in parishioners' homes to share a light repast, and talk about where we are going in the coming year, and how our parish can thrive and grow. We have found a blessing in the small group get-togethers, as we get to know each other better as individuals and further define our roles in the larger community of parishioners.

Below is a listing of dates, times and places of small gatherings that are scheduled, so that you may choose the one that is most convenient for you. You may click on the link below or call the office at 245-8827 to sign up.

St. Luke's Book Club
YOU ARE INVITED to St Luke's Book Club on October 17 at 7:00. Our book selection for October is  Sea Stories, written by retired Admiral William McRaven. The Sea Stories is an action-packed, humorous and full of life lessons learned memoir of one of America's most accomplished contemporary leaders.

MEETING INFO: Lyman House, October 17, THIRD (3rd) Wednesday monthly at 7:00 PM for 2+- hours of rousing conversations and introductions to books of almost every genre. At the end of each meeting, we discuss books for the next month's selection, so bring your suggestions with you. We invite you to join us!

St. Luke's Music Series
On October 20 St. Luke's Music Series will open its 6th season with an Organ Recital and Evensong at 4:00 pm with Shawn Dawson, Organist/Choirmaster at Calvary Episcopal Church.

Following the Evensong, our Music Gala will be held once again at the home of Brian and Celia Manlove, 2709 Anchor Way, 40223 from 5:30 - 8:00 pm.  A buffet supper will be served.  The Gala is always a very festive event with wonderful food and drink and cocktail piano music provided by Robert Lee.

Music is a vital ministry at St. Luke's which is made possible by the generous donations of our members and friends.  We thank all of you who have been so supportive of our past seasons!  Your donations to the Music Series allow us to extend a spiritual outreach to the Louisville community by sponsoring recitals, Evensongs and other special musical events in our beautiful church.  This year we're also asking for memorials to underwrite the cost of instrumentalists at Christmas and Easter services and a possible special concert in March 2020.

Centering Prayer
Please join us for Centering Prayer on
October 22, at 6pm at the Lyman House (church office) conference room.

We meet every fourth Tuesday of the month .
Wednesday Walks on the Anchorage Trail
Join us at the Anchorage Trail each Wednesday (weather permitting) at 8:30 AM for an invigorating walk along the trail that leads us thru a wildflower meadow where you might see deer, colorful birds, turtles, and other species of both animals and plants.

After our walk, we can attend Wednesday Bible Study at St. Luke's to hear Fr. Michael lead us in the word of God. Looking forward to being "on the trail again."
