We know that programs across the state are continuing to serve working families despite the impact the pandemic has had on their programs. In these ever-evolving circumstances, it is crucial for funders, policy makers, education leaders, and the general public to understand the current situation, as well as concerns for the future.
Please help us inform these key groups about the current landscape of afterschool by completing this survey:

New Academy Module:
Building Relationships Through Meaningful Moments
|
|
How do we find small windows of relational development for the children we work with? The Simple Interactions framework is a great place to start building meaningful moments.
In this course from uLead, Inc., you will learn about four dimensions of relationships that create opportunities for learning and development in children. You will also be challenged to consider specific ways that you have experienced these dimensions in your own development and how that might impact your current work with youth and children. Finally, you will hopefully notice the value of establishing strong relationships as the base for any work work with children and youth.

The first webinar in this series provided an overview of what we know about the effects of adversity on child and adolescent brain development, with an eye toward why trauma-informed practices are so important and offered practical tools and strategies for programs to employ when working with youth who may be dealing with trauma. In this webinar, the second of the series, participants will dive into the implications of this research for youth development practitioners at both the systems and program level. In this webinar, participants will receive concrete examples of how programs are ensuring or can ensure that they are providing safe and supportive environments that are centered on healing.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and crisis, school and afterschool systems, like all other aspects of our lives, have been dramatically impacted. Young people and their families are, in a sense, all functioning 100 percent in “out-of-school” time (OST) for the foreseeable future. “Learning at a Distance” has become the new normal for students who are engaging in virtual and non-virtual school and afterschool/summer programs in the absence of the “traditional” scenario.
Join IAN and Q Turn for an introduction to the newly completed Guidance for Out-of-School Time Learning at a Distance (GOLD). During this virtual session, participants will learn about the tool through a deeper understanding of the domains, standards, and indicators and explore the best practices already being employed by your colleagues around the state
