Hello chamber!
One year ago this month the Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce held its public launch event, announcing our presence and the mission of our work to the community. It’s been a year full of overwhelming support and remarkable progress, and our sincerest thanks to everybody who has helped make the chamber so successful thus far. Your support continues to motivate us as we move into years two, three, four, and beyond.

CHALLENGING THE PROCUREMENT PROBLEM
Following our last corporate roundtable, the chamber established a committee dedicated to optimizing the procurement process for our corporate partners and small business members. The committee — made up of both partners and members — met for the first time this month to discuss some of the most daunting obstacles blocking procurement and begin designing mutually beneficial solutions. The work this committee and others are doing will be key to our chamber’s focus as we drive toward developing inclusive strategies for 2020 implementation.

WRAPPING UP PRIDE IN WORCESTER
Pride doesn’t stop in June and neither does the Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce! The city of Worcester held their annual Pride Parade and Festival on September 7 and the chamber was there to both support and help celebrate. If you stopped by our booth, you might have won a free t-shirt, learned more about the chamber’s work, or maybe even signed up for this very newsletter — welcome! With summer wrapping up, the chamber is already looking forward to Pride 2020.

2019 NGLCC BUSINESS & LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce’s annual conference took place last month in Tampa, Florida, bringing together affiliate chambers and LGBTBEs from across the country. Executive Director Grace Moreno attended, as did chamber board members and representatives from our small business membership. To cap off four days of engaging workshops and meaningful connection, Mayor Jane Castor announced during her keynote speech that Tampa was adding LGBTQ-owned businesses to the city’s supplier diversity program! The MALGBTCC was proud to represent our Commonwealth at this year’s conference and we look forward to next year's event in Las Vegas.

CONNECTING TO DIVERSE SUPPLIERS
Northeastern University and the Operational Services Division of the state’s Supplier Diversity Office hosted a networking event for minority-owned businesses on August 21. Promoting a diverse supplier base is central to our mission and this event was a great opportunity to further connect with LGBTQ-owned businesses across the Commonwealth. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table! Feel free to reach out to our team with questions about membership or ways to get involved.

EDUCATING FUTURE LGBTQ+ PROFESSIONALS
While our focus largely falls on current business professionals, it is prudent to also engage the next generation entering the workplace. The Reach(Out) LGBTQA+ Career Conference will be on again this October, preparing LGBTQA+ students for internships and professional life beyond campus. Participants will gain LGBTQ-specific insight from Northeastern alumni and professionals from a range of industries. As a partner of the event, the MALGBTCC will be actively part of the program, with our very own Carly Davis on the alumni panel and several corporate partners participating in discussion panels.
This event is free and open to
anyone
with a college ID.
Dates & Times: Friday, October 25, 6–8:30PM
Saturday, October 26, 9:30AM–3:30PM
Location: Northeastern University, Boston, MA 02115

MEMBERSHIP PERKS
To complement our chamber's work in the broader community, we are focused on hosting more member-exclusive events. Later this fall, we'll be holding procurement panel and matchmaking networking events, as well as an open house with the Small Business Administration to provide business optimization tools, services, and workshops for our membership. There are a number of other member-exclusive events on the horizon, so keep an eye out for upcoming MALGBTCC communications with more details! To be part of these opportunities,
join the chamber today!
The chamber is also in the early stages of developing a member rewards program, in which chamber members may offer discounts on their products and services to other members. If you are interested in offering such a discount to other chamber members, please email Membership Services Associate
Madelyn Glasco.
