Celebrate the Unique Culture of China
In this mesmerizing one-woman acrobatic performance, Li Liu performs hand balancing, plate spinning, artistic cycling, ribbon dancing, foot juggling, and more. Students join her to create an impromptu ribbon dance and try their hand at plate spinning. Students learn about Chinese language and culture as Li Lui explains some of the rituals of Chinese New Year, teaches the audience Chinese phrases, and encourages them to think about what it might have been like to grow up in a different time and place.

Dance China New York
This introduction to Chinese culture uses a diverse and authentic selection of dance, costumes, music, artifacts, and historical information to immerse students in the ancient and vibrant culture of China. With Dance Chine New York, students witness beloved Chinese folk art pieces, including excerpts from Beijing Opera, the Monkey King story, and the “Red Ribbon Dance.”

Hua Hua Zhang
Experience astounding puppets that come alive through stories of China and America with Hua Hua Zhang. With stunning visuals and graceful movements, this program presents the ancient art form of Chinese Puppet Theater. Fusing movement and music found in Chinese Opera with Western technology, this exploration brings the complex role of the puppeteer as storyteller, technician, and visual artist to life.
