Church Council Update

Thank you to all who attended last Sunday’s Congregational Budget Meeting. The budget passed unanimously. Please join us this Sunday, September 22, between services for a Fellowship Forum. We will share the slide show from this year’s Royal Family Kids’ Camp, provide information on the various church ministries, and announce upcoming events you won’t want to miss.

Council members are working on putting together a Stewardship program that is all-inclusive and addresses "time, talent, and treasure." Additional information will be forth coming on how you can be a part of OSLC Stewardship.

Our Evangelism Ministry is developing a calendar of monthly activities for everyone to enjoy. Watch the newsletter for details on these activities.

If you have any questions, comments, or ideas please share them with a member of your church council.
Fellowship/Physical & Spiritual Wellness
From the Fellowship Committee
Who doesn't enjoy a warm beverage at church on Sunday? Yes, Lutherans and coffee go hand-in-hand, but the untiring volunteers who prepare coffee for the congregation to enjoy each week need your help. They are seeking a hand specifically for cleanup duties (prep duties are covered). Enough volunteers are needed so no one needs to do it every Sunday. If YOU are willing to be a helper please contact Helen PicKell at 971-645-5204.
Now that September is here and we are resuming all the usual church programs, we will also have a regularly scheduled Fellowship Forum on the 4th Sunday of each month. This is the time we celebrate birthdays of the month and enjoy a cake provided by the church. However, if you would like to honor a specific person's birthday with a cake, you may do so by signing up in the book at the coffee-hour table and by providing the cake for that Sunday. Thank you!
Pr. Art leads the weekly "Book Discussion Group" and they will meet this Sunday in the Conference Room at 10:00 a.m. The group is on chapter 8 of the book, "The Great Spiritual Migration" by Brian McLaren. Newcomers always welcome.
Women of OSLC: A Fall Bible study, "No Other Gods - the Unrivaled pursuit of Christ", will begin Oct 8.  The study is discussion-based and has a bit of homework each week. We will be looking at what keeps us "satisfyingly unsatisfied" as we allow other things to become small gods and therefore get in our way of a full relationship with God. We begin at 6:30 p.m. with a social time and start our group study at 7:00 finishing by 8:30. This is an 8-week course facilitated by Patti Ryall. You can purchase or order your book by contacting Patti at 503-312-2040. All are welcome . For more information on the course, go to:
