A Note from Mrs. Ryan
Dear Parents,

Last week we sent home a letter provided by the diocese which contained information on the Circle of Grace curriculum which is delivered to our students in an age appropriate manner every year. This is the first year the diocese has required that all parents receive a letter about the program and give explicit permission for their child to participate. The letter provided by the diocese, although beautifully worded, created more questions than it answered. Had I considered the letter from a parent viewpoint I would have realized that, especially for new families to the school, more specific information on content was necessary.

At St. Rose, the lessons pertaining to Circle of Grace are taught by our school counselor, Kathleen Aymar. She gently reinforces the content with consistent messaging to the students on how to be safe in all aspects of their lives, including their online life.

The curriculum in the primary grades covers the basic idea that even people who seem nice can do mean things and the parts of their bodies that are covered by a bathing suit are off limits to others. If another person touches them in a way that makes them feel uncomfortable, their job is to tell a trusted adult who will do something about it. They also learn that keeping secrets can be dangerous.

As students get older they learn to identify appropriate boundaries and various types of violations that can occur with these boundaries.   In the junior high years students learn to be wary of methods that a potential predator may use to groom a victim, either in person or online.

I hope this information is helpful to you. If you have further questions please email Kathleen Aymar at [email protected] or me at [email protected]. We'd be happy to talk with you.

EPICUREAN HOT LUNCH PROGRAM  - 1st - 8th grades
NEW INFORMATION
All 1st - 8th students participated in a hot lunch survey last week, asking them what they like and don't, and what kinds of menu options would be interested in.

Epicurean is listening, and based on those results, they will be introducing some new menu items starting in October, along with those that are most popular.
Epicurean remains committed to providing healthy lunch options, but also want to offer items that your children will enjoy.

Hot Lunch menu's for October and November are now posted for ordering.

Remember, all orders must be placed in ADVANCE.
  • If ordering WEEKLY - your order must be placed no later than WEDNESDAY the week before.
  • If ordering MONTHLY - your order for the next month must be placed by the LAST WEDNESDAY of each month.
  • St. Rose office will no longer ADD ON students who do not order in time. If you miss the order deadline, please send your child to school with a lunch.
