Message from the Mayor
Hello everyone,
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Trudeau announced that March 11, 2021 would be recognized as a National Day of Observance to commemorate the lives lost and significant impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Municipal flags in Lambton Shores have been lowered to half-mast on this day of observance.
Although so much has been lost throughout this past year, I remain hopeful that we will soon see the light at the end of the tunnel. Vaccination rollout continues to happen throughout Lambton County. It is important to make sure that people are informed with the correct information. The best, and most accurate information is available on the Lambton Public Health website.
For the past 52 weeks, I have witnessed the resiliency of our community. I have seen messages of hope sent to front line workers. I have seen countless acts of kindness. Through all the distancing, I have seen our community come together more than ever before. Thank you to our residents for doing your part to keep each other safe and to our businesses that have had to constantly adapt in this ever changing world. We are not out of this yet, but we are all stronger together.
For COVID-19 updates, including local updates on the COVID-19 vaccine, please visit the Lambton Public Health website. We all have a personal responsibility to help protect those most vulnerable in our community.
With so much out of our control, we can control our own actions. Choose to be kind.
Stay healthy, safe and positive.
Mayor Bill

If your property was affected by gypsy moths last year and you are considering an aerial spray, the deadline to submit your contract to Zimmer Air is quickly approaching (March 31, 2021).
For those owners not planning on spray, there is a waiver that the contractor requires regarding overspray.
Thank you to those that have already done so! This helps the Municipality plan the areas that we will spray as part of our commitment to controlling the gypsy moth.
For more information on gypsy moths and ways to protect your property, visit our gypsy moth webpage.

Victorian Hotel Demolition
Earlier this week, demolition began on the former Victorian Hotel in Forest. According to the Forest-Lambton Museum, there has been a hotel at this site since 1873. The first building was destroyed by fire in 1897, and was soon replaced by the brick structure. Unfortunately, due to safety reasons, the existing building had to be demolished. However, one of the treasured stained glass windows has been preserved and was provided to the Forest-Lambton Museum for all to continue to enjoy.
