Neighbors Stand against Poles
There are just a few yard signs left. If you would like one for your yard call Colleen, 272-0784 or email cnichols17@cox.net
Sooo many neighbors have taken signs for their yards. We are sending a message! We will be asking our Ward III council person, Paul Durham, to continue to emphasize his support for no lines through neighborhoods.

See the rationale for the neighborhood stand at the JP website http://www.jeffersonpark.info/tep-138-kv-poles.html

or see former e-newsletters at http://www.jeffersonpark.info/nwsltrs.html

Thanks to Gloo Factory for printing the signs! info@thegloofactory.com

Southeast Neighbors and Banner Basins
Several neighbors and walkers have expressed concerns about the maintenance of the basins north of Banner which border Jefferson Park.

Both an insurgence of weeds and overgrowth of trees have been noticed. Neighbors report walking the pathways and cleaning up trash and dog leavings.

On behalf of the neighbors, JPNA has contacted Banner officials and have
been assured that they have walked the entire basin area. They are in the process of transferring the upkeep of all of the basins from the construction company to Banner landscape maintenance. The trees on the north side will be trimmed very soon.
Banner also shared, " The design intent of these stormwater basins is to really let them become natural areas. Allowing wildflowers and other species to grow within the basin when they are not full of water, and maintain the sides to prevent overgrowth. During the walk we also discussed as a part of the maintenance to remove invasive species as much as possible and keep the growth to a managed level so as not to look abandoned."

We look forward to continuing to work with Banner to make the basin area not only a useful barrier and water collector, but a beautiful place to visit as well.

Let's take this opportunity to do something good and form new habitats that benefit our local environment, this spring, and for many years to come.

06/25/2020 - 4:30pm to 6:30pm

Invasion of the Goatheads!
You might have noticed a green mat with yellow flowers popping up on the right of ways in JP. This is goathead aka puncture vine, and it is a nasty weed! Right now it's flowering and forming seeds, which are multi-pronged barbs with very sharp ends. Many will end up in bike tires, pet's feet, and get tracked into your house on your shoes. When you step on them with bare feet you'll know why it's called puncture vine!

More on how to identify:

Let's all work together to get rid of these plants now before they have fully gone to seed! If you see one, pull it, bag it, and toss it!

Call 9-1-1. If you have an emergency, call 9-1-1. This includes welfare checks on persons who appear in distress and let’s not forget the animals and small children left in vehicles-- engines not running and windows not cracked, while the temperatures rise.

Non-Emergency line. Another way we’re able to answer and address your questions and/or concerns is to call the non-emergency number at (520) 791-4444. Please note that you may have to leave a message, but someone will return your call.

Online Report. To file an online report go to: https://www.tucsonaz.gov/apps/crime-reporting/ This reporting tool can be used to file certain crimes so make sure to check out the webpage for information.

Other means of contact. You have the option to email me: Erin.Peters@Tucsonaz.gov or phone: (520) 837-7241 or you may contact my direct supervisor, Sergeant Kingman, via email: Amber.Kingman@Tucsonaz.gov or phone: (520) 837-7216. You, also, have the option to contact our division at ODW@Tucsonaz.gov or phone: (520) 791-4467.

With that being said, I want to remind all of you, as always, to be extremely cautious of people trying to take advantage of you during vulnerable times. If something doesn't feel or sound right, it most likely isn't. If you are unsure, you can always use the above measures to contact us. Thank you for your time and attention. Stay safe and be well.
