RIVERSIDE EARLY MORNING PROGRAM  elbow-children-line.jpg
The Early Morning Program at Riverside School provides a childcare option for Riverside students prior to the start of the regular school day. The program runs Monday through Friday from 7:15am until school opens at 8:30am. Any questions, contact Kristine Redlien at  [email protected]
PLAY IN A DAY
This week professional storytellers from the Connecticut Storytelling Center worked with our third graders to craft a play in a single day. This year's plays were inspired by our school summer read James and the Giant Peach. The storytellers guided the students through the process of producing a play which includes brainstorming a storyline, developing the script, and arranging movement, music and drama. The production is a valuable exercise in promoting teamwork, friendships and respect for each other - important skills that the students use throughout this school year and beyond. The program also aims to teach skills such as speaking clearly, taking risks and being creative. We hope the parents enjoyed the finished productions as much as the kids enjoyed putting the shows together and performing them! The Play in A Day program is organized by the PTA Arts Enrichment committee thanks to your generous donations to the PTA.

The program includes both an educational portion as well as a dental screening for all the students at Riverside Elementary School. This program is beneficial in continuing to maintain the health and well being of the students. Thank you for promoting good dental health. Parents can also help by providing good, nutritious snacks and lunches for their children.  It has to be a team effort from us all to combat decay and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
