Woodstock Artists Association & Museum is celebrating its centenary with An Artistic Legacy: 1+1+1 through December 29. In honor of WAAM's 100th year, An Artistic Legacy shows the work of a historic Woodstock artist, their descendant and a contemporary artist chosen by the descendant. An Artistic Legacy features the work of eight artist-and-artist couples who have lived and worked in the Woodstock region. The featured artists are Manuel Bromberg and Jane Dow Bromberg, Robert Angeloch and Nancy Summers, Austin Mecklem and Marianne Appel, Ernest Frazier, Wendell Jones and Jane Jones, Eleanore Lockspeiser, Milton Avery and Sally Avery, and Bruce Currie and Ethel Magafan. An Artistic Legacy is just part of the celebration that is Woodstock Collects, a town-wide collaboration between WAAM, Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, Center for Photography at Woodstock, Woodstock School of Art and The Historical Society of Woodstock. WAAM invites viewers to join in the celebration and see art through the years at An Artistic Legacy: 1+1+1. Starting September 7, ReachArts will be showing Unredacted through October 19. Unredacted is a mixed media exhibition featuring the work of Tereza Swanda, Peter Howells, Diane Jacobs, Angela Rose Voulgarelis, Dorota Mytych, Michael Miller and Melissa Morris. The common thread between each artist is their experience of studying under Rose Shakinovsky and Claire Gavronsk, commonly known as the South African collaborative duo Rosenclaire. Rosenclaire run workshops and residencies in South Africa and Italy, and their artistic work and teaching always involve some degree of political activism. Said Rosenclaire of their work, "Acknowledging the political post-truth world we now live in, as artists and activists, we aim to shine a light on sustained inequities and offer more humane alternatives." Unredacted contains this same objective rendered by a varied group of artists, each utilizing their skill to explore political activism and expose inequality in their own way. Natasha Stoppel, Challenge 120: People and Their Pets: To Those I've Loved Before.

Art Up Front Street will be showing Other Worlds of Now and Then from September 6–28. This exhibit features the work of Natasha Stoppel, a traveling artist who quit her corporate job in 2014 to launch Artist Explores the World, a blog and YouTube channel centered around her art and travels. Her work in Other Worlds of Now and Then reflects her life path, combining real-life experiences with bright and colorful fantasy, resulting in imaginative works that speak to true feelings. Stoppel said of her experiences, "The world is full of possibilities. You have so many options of what you can make and do with this one precious life you're given. For me I couldn't be happier with the choices I've made." Her work asks the viewer to consider how their own history and experiences reflect their current lives.
