Condominium Ordinance Passes
43rd Ward Shred Event
Until 2:00 today - Buy Permits at DePaul
Dear Neighbors,

At yesterday's meeting, City Council passed our ordinance to increase the vote required to approve the sale of a condominium building from 75% to 85% of ownership interests. We are grateful for the broad support for this ordinance, which should help preserve affordability in our neighborhoods.

The ordinance will take effect October 16.
Council Office of Financial Analysis

New Budget Committee Chairman Pat Dowell (3rd) and I introduced improvements to the Council Office of Financial Analysis, an office we established in 2013. COFA will gain greater independence and access to city data, removing current restrictions on the office. Under the new ordinance, COFA will post all of its reports for the pubic. Alderman Dowell and I are proud to give this office increased power and transparency for the benefit of taxpayers.

We have come far in a few short months. Almost all the reforms we discussed in January of this year have become law or on our their way. We look forward to pressing ahead with this legislation, with more to come.
