An Interview with the 2020 Secretary
  Marina Mantovani, Citizens Bank
Question: How long have you been a member of RMA? Why did you become a member?

Answer: “I have been a member now for 16 years! I became a member to expand my network and build relationships with other professionals in the banking industry”

Question: Why did you want to be the Board Secretary?

Answer: I love being helpful. In the past I have been involved with another large RMA chapter during a period of time when I lived in another state. As a Secretary, I am attending each Board meeting, thus I am able to share ideas and suggestions that other chapters are using and that have proven to be successful.

RMA & KPMG | Automotive Update: Surviving COVID & Challenges Ahead
By: Caitlin Kimball, TCF Bank

On Thursday, October 29th, the RMA East Michigan Chapter teamed up with KPMG for a virtual event where panelists discussed the impact of COVID 19 on the automotive industry. COVID-19 brought on a plethora of challenges, but despite volatile projections of immense distress, the supply base at large was able to persevere. How did the suppliers get through the shutdowns, manage the ramp-up and are they prepared for what lies ahead? Our panelists from KPMG answered these questions and more for our virtual attendees.

RMA Hosts with Clayton & McKervey | PPP Check-In
By: Shawn Mersino, Comerica Bank

On Tuesday, December 15th, the RMA East Michigan Chapter partnered with Clayton & McKervey for an educational event titled “PPP Check-In”. This timely event was well-attended with two hundred individual registrations. Attendees came looking for guidance and updates on the PPP program. This included updates to the program, information on the forgiveness process, financial statement impacts and more. The event featured Jim Biehl and Tim Hilligoss, shareholders from Clayton & McKervey. This update followed a series of updates held individually by Clayton over the summer months. We’re grateful for their partnership on this event!

How Your Remote Workforce Can
Combat Cyberthreats
By Brad Atkin, CPA, CISA, CITP – Doeren Mayhew, Shareholder, IT Advisory and Security Group

After almost a year of the COVID-19 pandemic forcing its way into our lives, an unprecedented number of employees have seen a familiar environment become their workspace: their homes. Work is now completed over home internet service providers (ISPs) via unsecured routers, nosy building neighbors listen in on private business calls containing sensitive information and partners may share a machine while working for a different company. While there’s no place like home, there’s also no place easier to attract cyberthreats.
