We Need Your Help!
Painting by-Heather Campbell

We are drafting eager and energetic volunteers to help out during our Annual Rummage Flyover event, which takes place on Saturday, September 21 between 8AM - 2:30PM and Sunday, September 22 between 11:00AM - 4:00PM. Stay for the day and enjoy lunch on us!  Even if you've only got an hour to spare, you'll help lighten the load for your fellow parishioners so please, stop on by.  Email Annie Adams at [email protected] to get involved. OR, simply show up at the 470 Maple Street parking lot to lend a helping hand.

We also need help setting up our 30 plus Departments!  Volunteer 10 or more hours between September 24 and October 1, work a shift on Sale Day, and we'll grant you early shopping access during the Pre-Sale on October 2. Starting on Monday, September 24, stop by the Welcome Desk, located in the Office at the Parish House, for your assignment.  We'll be setting up weekdays from 9AM to 3PM.  We are eternally grateful for your support!
Christ Church Hosts Families
from Family Promise October 13-20

Christ Church is getting ready to host a new group of transitionally homeless families in Church House the week of October 13-20, and we need lots of help!

This has become one of Christ Church's most important outreach ministries. By providing these families a safe place to sleep, healthy meals, hospitality and fellowship, we play a critical role while they work with Family Promise to create a pathway to permanent self-sufficiency and stability.

Want to learn more? Join us in the Lea Room during coffee hour this Sunday, September 22.

We need volunteers of all ages to help with:
  • Setup and Cleanup
  • Evening Meals
  • Evening Activities
  • Overnight Hosting
  • Fellowship and Hospitality
To volunteer, visit the  Christ Church website , where you'll find the  Signup Genius  under Serve/Local Outreach or click HERE.

If you have questions, please email Elizabeth Parkinson at  [email protected]

It's a terrific way to engage personally with  our Rummage patrons. Three separate three hour shifts (early morning, mid-day and early afternoon) are available.

Interested? Contact Michael Peregrine or Gordon Montgomery.

First Fridays Pot-Luck

Join your fellow parishioners for a monthly gathering on First Fridays starting on October 4th. The purpose of these First Fridays is entirely social-an informal time to get together and enjoy the company of other church members. Our first gathering will be a the home of Nat Roberts and Laura Zung at 730 Walden from 6-8PM. Bring a dish to share and they will provide beverages.

"Christ on the Move in the Middle East Today and among Muslims Worldwide"

The events of September 11, 2001 rocked the Muslim world as much as it did the Christian and Western world. Dan McNerney is an Associate Director of Frontier Fellowship, a mission support group serving churches worldwide. In recent years, Dan has helped churches in the United States to establish redemptive, bridge-building relationships with local Muslim and Jewish communities for the purpose of being a Gospel witness among these unreached people in our own country. He lives in Winnetka  with his family.

The Director and the Queen

It's very early in the morning the first Thursday in October. The sun has not yet risen over the Lake. Birds are barely chirping. No coffee has been brewed. Heck, Starbucks isn't even open yet.

But a real sense of excitement is awakening. A crowd of people is beginning to assemble, coming from all over to uncover the mysteries and treasures that await at Christ Church Winnetka.

For Charlotte McGee, the self-proclaimed Queen of...

Opportunities to Serve
A Just Harvest - Saturday, September 28
We Need Cooks, Servers, & Shoppers

Hello wonderful supporters of A Just Harvest!

I just returned from another extremely fulfilling evening at A Just Harvest.

Along with the food so generously provided by all of you, we had a heartwarming team of servers - Jenny Smith and myself, along with Jenny's kind and warm neighbor Melissa, and my sweet and thoughtful nephew Reid Keller.

We served 80 patrons. They left with full bellies, and in some cases, 2 donuts!

At the end of our time spent, Mark called our team over for a quick chat.
He told us that Patty (the long time Tuesday night server), pulled him aside to let him know how much she appreciates the help of Christ Church.  She indicated that many of the other organizations that provide food and serve quickly run out the door when the kitchen closes. She mentioned that we are diligent in cleaning the serving area and around, and are always extremely positive and happy to be there.

Clearly we all do this because we want to, not because we have to. I feel so fortunate to be a part of this thoughtful, compassionate and giving group of individuals!

Thank you all for your support tonight, your past support, and your continued support!

Fondly,
Erika :)

Hurricane Relief

Episcopal Relief & Development is working with Church partners to provide critical support to the most vulnerable communities impacted by Hurricane Dorian.

In partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida, the Episcopal Church in South Carolina, the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia, and the Episcopal Farmworker Ministry, Episcopal Relief & Development is giving assistances such as food, water, clothing, shelter and other emergency supplies to individuals and families affected by the storm. The organization is also working through the Anglican Alliance to provide support to the Anglican Diocese of the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos as they continue to assess the needs of communities.

You can help provide affected communities with immediate and long-term support. Please contribute to Episcopal Relief & Development's Hurricane Relief Fund at support.episcopalrelief.org/hurricane-relief.
