August is a great time of year to try something new and different on the farm. Fresh vegetables and fruit are not the only thing in abundance this time of year... flowers and farm animals are, too. Another farm favorite that is right around the corner is apples! Gravenstein apples have just started and will go quickly so get yours soon. Whether you want to walk through fields of blooming color, stand nose to nose with an elk, pick peaches, or meet alpacas, there's always something for everyone on the Oregon Farm Loop!

Face coverings are required for adults and children 5 and up in all indoor spaces and outdoors where a 6 foot social distance cannot be maintained. Face coverings may be required at all times at some locations.

Stroll through over 35 acres of beautiful dahlias. The fields are open starting Aug 1st and remain open through Sept. View every variety in the display garden or sit at a picnic table and enjoy an afternoon among the dahlias. Make sure to visit the gift shop and self-serve cut flower stand. Place an order ONLINE now through September 30 and receive 10% off orders.

August 7-30, Fridays - Sundays
A picture paradise! Each admission includes a wagon ride, several fields of sunflowers to explore including a new Sunflower Maze and one flower ‘bloom.' Donkey Birthday Party
August 15, 1 to 4 pm
Lots of donkeys to visit including two mini donkey foals to see and pet! Open anytime by appointment. Please call Tonie at 971-322-6931 to set up a time to visit our mini donkeys, the farm shop, and tour the farm. Masks are required and closed toed shoes are highly recommended. Tollen Farm also started a summer program for kids and adults with Autism Thursdays from 10 am to 12 pm and includes a tour of the farm and more. More info here.

Pasture-raised, locally produced, USDA-certified lamb raised with sustainable practices makes a tasty summer treat. The finest wool products (yarn, sheepskins, blankets, fleeces and more) are also available as well as chickens, ducks and seasonally, geese and turkeys. SuDan Farm can be found at two farmers markets weekly: Portland Farmers Market and Milwaukie Farmers Market. Make sure to stop by, check out the products and say hi! Stand nose to nose with a herd of elk on the picturesque ranch with Mt. Hood as the backdrop as you learn all about elk: from hooves to antlers. Take a walk along 8-foot fences to see the beautiful animals up close and personal. Finish your tour in the gift shop for a ranch souvenir or ranch-raised elk meat (when available). Experience the curious personalities of our 70+ alpaca herd. Crias (babies) are born July-November. Our ranch store carries a variety of alpaca clothing, yarns, rugs, etc. all made from alpaca fiber. Visitors are welcome to visit the farm and store daily during open hours, 10 am to 4 pm. Fee for an hour+ organized tour. Private group tours by prior appointment preferred. Oregon peaches are in full swing!
|
|
It is really easy to find sweet Oregon peaches on the Oregon Farm Loop! Below are a few places to find them, including U-picks.
Bauman's Farm and Garden - Fresh peaches are here! You can find these at their farm stand as well as peach baked goods, drinks and frozen peaches for enjoying later.
Fiala Farms - It's peach season at Fiala Farms. Make sure you stop by for these sweet tree fruits as well as lots of other mid summer goodies including jams and jellies.
French Prairie Gardens - Grab a pint and peaches at the same time and take in beautiful farm views from the farm stand.
Greens Bridge Gardens - Located in beautiful Jefferson, Greens Bridge Gardens has beautiful peaches at their farm stand along with berries and other summer produce. You can also find them at local farmers markets.
Hartnell Farms - A fresh produce farm with lots of fabulous variety, including peaches. Make sure to check out their U-pick tomatoes as well!
Meyer Peach Orchard - Pick some of the sweetest and juiciest fruit around! This 3rd generation family-owned farm has been operating since 1926. They offer U-pick and pre-picked peaches. Before coming out, please call ahead for available produce and the day’s hours. (503) 362-7153. Check their Facebook page for updates.
Melcher Family Farm - It's not just about nuts! As well as hazelnuts at the farm, they are currently selling fresh picked peaches through most of the month of August. Please call (503) 633-2191 and/or check their Facebook page for updates and availability.
Minto Island Growers - Located in Salem for all your already picked peaches (and fresh produce) needs. Check their website for produce availability.
