School Updates:
A message from our librarian Mrs. McHugh:
Shelley Johannes, author AND illustrator of the creative series Beatrice Zinker, will be zooming with us on March 16th! Don't forget to add to our Padlet at http://bit.ly/3dETCeV by March 15th, and you will be entered into a raffle to win a pre-order of Shelley Johannes's new picture book, More Than Sunny, releasing in May!

Lexia: This online learning platform helps us build students' phonics and early reading skills that are necessary to become a strong reader. We do look at this data regularly. Some students who are struggling completing or understanding lessons/units will have extra support on Friday once a week. He/she will not be pulled out of core instruction, recess, or specials. We set weekly goals, print out certificates, and reinforce students positively. If they need extra time at the end of the week, this way we can give them the help. One way you can help your child continue to progress is doing 5-10 minutes of Lexia at home a couple times a week. Thanks for the support!

As a busy parent myself, I understand the daily challenge we have to juggle everything! One tactic is to have one night you dedicate to fun conversation! This helps build your child's listening and speaking skills, too! This could be tied to a themed dinner night and your child can help read the recipe to cook and bake! Even small opportunities to connect help set up your child for success at school.
