Recap of July 29, 2019 Board of Education Meeting

The July 29, 2019 Regular Meeting of the Fairview Park Board of Education took place at 6:30 p.m. in the cafetorium at Gilles-Sweet Elementary.

Superintendent's Report

State Representative David Greenspan presented the district with a proclamation of congratulations in honor of the recent 2019 Innovative District Award from the International Center for Leadership in Education.

Senator Matt Dolan also sent a commendation for the recent accolade.

Mr. Bill Gantz, Owners Representative, on behalf of the Ruhlin Company provided an update on the district construction projects. His full report can be viewed here.

Ms. Amy Harker, Northeast Region Career and Innovation Specialist for the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio, provided a summary report of the recent Learning Management System Community Forums she moderated on behalf of the district. The full presentation can be viewed here.

Treasurer Kim Sperling provided an update on the Financial Activity Communications Team, noting that she hosted an initial meeting focusing on School Finance 101.

The Board approved the consent agenda.

The Board discussed the information provided by Ms. Harker. They then made a m otion to approve Option 3: A two-year LMS review process with possible new implementation in fall of 2021, while committing to the use of Summit Learning for the 2019-2020 and the 2020-2021 school years with continued improvements in implementation, communication and outreach.
