From
the Youth Minister, Erin Wolf

The 2019-2020 school year at All Saints has begun! Keep reading to see what’s coming up in Youth Ministry in the parish.
Thank you
to those who helped with Cool Drinks & Coloring this summer! It was a great way to greet members of the community and other passersby on Saturday mornings. We appreciate all your help!
Youth Group Adults Needed:
As we require a minimum of two adults present for Youth Group gatherings, I am seeking adult volunteers to help me out on Sunday evenings. The Youth Group calendar can be found
HERE
—if interested and available, please contact me at
asygappleton@gmail.com
for further info. We truly do need (and appreciate) the help—we cannot hold Youth Group without you, so please consider sharing your time with us. Thank you!

From Parish Treasurer Alicia Bayambang

Dear All Saints Family,
Finances continued to remain stable in August. Total giving was $15,618.26 versus a budget of $16,916.67. The slight dip is common in the summer months and September is looking fantastic for giving as of today. Year-to-date giving through August is $149,356.70 which is $14,023.37 higher than the budget of $135,333.33. I reformatted the report this month to group all non-endowment giving. Purposed and General income which include giving designated for flowers, building use, and Scrip are under budget. However, we are fully covering our expenses for 2019 so this is not necessarily a negative, total YTD Operating expense is $35,648.13 under budget. A plan to present a demonstration on how to sign up for SCRIP online is in the works. Watch for the event this fall. Endowment is also under budget because we have not needed the budgeted 5% draw from the endowments due to having excess cash. A decision was made to not draw from the Endowment as planned since we did not need the cash. That way the endowments continue to grow and earn in the investment accounts. The excess cash was due to finalizing the reimbursements for the 2012-2018 expenses due from the endowments.

Some of you may not know that there's a small, but dedicated prayer group that meets after the 9 am Wednesday service. They work their way through the parish directory, praying for the members of All Saints, as well as for those especially in need of prayers. Anyone who would like to join them in the parish library around 9:45 am on Wednesdays is more than welcome. If you have names you would like added to their list of prayers,
contact the office
, and Emily will pass them on. You can also talk to Joan Hendry or Judy Gaines for more information about the group.
|
|
Midyear pledge statements for 2019 are at the back of the church, alphabetical by last name. Please pick
yours up.
|
|
Don't forget that you can help All Saints by purchasing SCRIP cards for your back-to-school shopping! Every time you use a SCRIP card to shop at your favorite businesses, a percentage of the cost is donated to All Saints. Plus, you can now purchase SCRIP cards online with a credit card (details on the
SCRIP website
). Contact

Power of Love Discussion - Sept. 24 & Oct. 1
|
In preparation for the
The Way of Love
Revival and Conference on October 26 at the Red Lion Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton, All Saints is hosting a short two-evening study program of a book called
The Power of Love
, which is a collection of sermons of the Presiding Bishop Michael Curry, who is featured speaker at the spiritual Revival next month. Bishop Curry is a charismatic speaker and Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in America, and is most famous for having preached at the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle in 2018.
These sessions will take place on
Tuesday, Sept. 24 and Oct 1 at 7 pm
at All Saints in the Palmer Room. Discussion Leader will be Larry Danielson, retired Professor of Ethnology. If you ordered a copy of the book, please pick it up in the parish office.
The Power of Love Discussion Leader Larry Danielson has never regretted his vocational choice to become a teacher (except during certain faculty meetings). After receiving his Ph.D. in Folklore and American Studies from Indiana University he taught courses in Folk Studies, film, and literature at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and a variety of folklore courses in the Folk Studies Department at Western Kentucky University, always looking forward to each new semester ahead. After retiring in 2001 he and his wife re-located to Appleton, Wisconsin, where they are members of All Saints Episcopal Church. In addition to teaching, he has always been interested in music (J.S. Bach and Peggy Lee notably), the visual arts, and religion.
|
|
Join us on the Washington Street lawn for a German pig roast and live music! As well as roast pork, there will be German and American potato salad and apple torte. Invite your friends!
The suggested donation is $15 per adult or $30 for a family. Contact
Carol Jegen
for more information.

CROP Walk is approaching, but this year the All Saints Team will be taking a hiatus. Most of the team members will be out of town on Oct. 13, and it's so close to Bishop Curry's visit and the Revival that we decided not to participate this go-round. However, if you still want to donate to good work of Church World Service, you can click here to make a contribution:

Way of Love Revival Preparation Prayer
Almighty God, Giver of every good gift: Bless the Episcopal Diocese of Fond du Lac and surrounding communities as we plan for the October 26 Way of Love Revival. Equip and empower the teams preparing for the Revival. Give them strength and clarity to do your will. Give each one of us courage to reach out to our neighbors and friends inviting them to the Revival so that all may know the power of your love and forgiveness. Bless Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and other leaders with a Spirit-filled message that will be truly heard. May this Revival be the impetus to relight the fire in our churches and in our hearts so that we may live even more into our Baptismal Covenant. All this we ask in the name of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Amen.

All Saints is still in need of a new Clerk of the Vestry. This is a volunteer position that requires attending all vestry meetings, which are usually held after the 10am service on the 3rd Sunday of the month, and taking minutes which are later distributed to the vestry. The clerk does not vote on vestry decisions. If you'd like to serve in this role, please contact
Senior Warden Rob Anderson
