Players Workshop Opens Season With Neil Simon Tribute
What:
Players Workshop opens its new season with the Neil Simon comedy The Prisoner of Second Avenue. The "prisoner" of Second Avenue is Mel Edison, a well-paid Manhattan advertising executive whose life is turned upside down when he loses his job, only to have the situation compounded by well-meaning, buttinsky relatives, the air pollution killing his plants, and paper-thin apartment walls, allowing him a constant earful of his neighbors' private lives. The play showcases Simon's unique gift for taking a grave subject and treating it with hearty but sympathetic humor.

What: Work with numbers? Then you need to learn Excel. In this class, you will be using Excel 2016 and discover dozens of shortcuts and tricks for setting up fully formatted worksheets quickly and efficiently. Welding Art 101
What: Learn the basics of joining metal pieces through MIG welding. In this class you will make a flower yard art and learn the basic weld. Participants must wear cotton long sleeve clothes and leather closed toe shoe. Those with medium to long hair must tie back. Safety glasses, welding gloves, jackets and helmets will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own.

Players Workshop to Raffle Artwork for Roof Fund
What: Players Workshop will raffle the artwork "Nancy," a limited edition print (#1 of only 36) of a hand-tinted etching taken from a woodcut by American artist Wm. J. Ellington, to raise funds to repair the Workshop roof. "Nancy," a gentle portrait of a young girl holding a pet rabbit, has been professionally appraised at a value of $2880. The portrait may be viewed at the Art Center in Burlington or at the Workshop during performances of the fall and winter plays. Tickets are $10 or 3 for $25 and are available from Players Workshop members or during the performances.

20th Annual Oktoberfest
What: Burlington Noon Lions invite you to join as we celebrate Burlington's German heritage. German dishes for sale include our specialties such as homemade beef and cabbage rolls, sauerkraut potato soup, homemade applesauce, hot German potato salad, along with brats and smoked pork chops - hot off the grill. We will also have German desserts this year - yum! This is our signature event and is a fantastic way for our community to support our club projects as we support our community.
