We are looking for parents to serve on our 2019-2020 School Leadership Team or SLT. SLT will meet on the second Tuesday at 5:30 pm in October, November, February, March and May. If you are interested in becoming a member of this team, please send an email to Mr. Thomas by Wednesday, September 25 ([email protected] ). The first SLT meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 8 at 5:30 pm in the Media Center.

Our students completed their first round of MAP Testing over the past few days. Reports will be sent home with their first quarter Report Cards on November 7. Official EOG scores from 2018-2019 for individual students will be officially released within the next month through a printed report that will be sent home with your Bronco. We have not been given an exact date for the official release, but hope to send these reports out with first quarter Report Cards as well.

Each week the CMS Middle School Math Specialist creates and shares a problem with all schools. Students have to solve this problem and write about their thinking. The recent problem of the week was about 9/11 and the Freedom Tower in New York City. Carson McGuire, 7^th grader at Bailey, was the winner for CMS this past week. Each week there is a prize, but this week's prize is extra special! The CMS Math Specialist, Rob Leichner, will be making a donation in Carson's name to the Families of Freedom, a charity that provides scholarships to the children and families of 9/11 victims. This is a great honor and we so proud of Carson.

Our Back To School Picnic will be held tomorrow after school from 4:30-6:30 pm. Students are required to bring in the permission slip to stay for the picnic (permission slip link) . Additionally, parents should plan to pick students up by 6:30 pm and enter through the bus parking lot. Parents will then be directed around the back of the school to the car rider exit so there will be no exiting at the bus lot. This should keep the flow of traffic moving as we will have a large number of students being picked up between 6:15-6:30 pm.

BMS PTSA Fall Fundraiser

Bailey Discount Cards

The BMS Fall Fundraiser is happening NOW and our first collection date is THIS FRIDAY, September 20th! As a reminder, this is how it works. Each student will receive five discount cards to sell to family, friends, and neighbors for $10 each. Students can win prizes and unique experiences by participating in this fundraising effort. For more information, please refer to the handout that your student brought home.

If your student sells their cards and needs more, they can check out five additional cards per visit in the media center before school.

If you do not want to participate, or your student does not sell all of their cards, please return them to the school so that they can be re-distributed to other students.

Our three money collection dates are as follows:

Friday, September 20 . Friday, September 27 . Friday, October 4

Please send the money for any cards sold to school with your student in an envelope with their name and homeroom/red block teacher.

Reflections Contest

Express yourself through art, dance, music composition, literary composition, film, or photography!

This year's theme is "Look Within".

The due date for Reflections Entries is Oct. 30th. Entries can be turned in to Ms. Klingman or Mrs. Schneider.

Entry forms will be on Ms. Klingman's Bulletin Board (Drama) in the D-Hall Way, starting Oct. 1st.

National Arts in Education Week

Last week was National Arts in Education Week. Passed by Congress in 2010, House Resolution 275 designates the week beginning with the second Sunday in September as National Arts in Education Week. Last week, the field of arts education joins together in communities across the country to tell the story of the impact of the transformative power of the arts in education.
